Job Overview Academic Advisors provide personalized guidance to current and prospective students, helping them meet educational, professional, and personal goals. Advisors are essential to fostering student persistence, timely degree completion, and a positive university experience. Essential Functions Key Responsibilities: * Provide academic advising to facilitate students' successful and timely educational planning and degree completion in alignment with their educational and career goals. * Serve as an advisor for a designated caseload of students through proactive outreach, support, and education. Build trust and accessibility with students to foster persistence and a positive experience. * Monitor student progress and collaborate with students to develop personalized graduation plans. * Provide accurate and up-to-date information about curriculum, policies, procedures, opportunities, and academic program guidelines. * Evaluate student information and utilize data to support enrollment, registration, and academic planning. Maintain advising and enrollment records. * Collaborate with faculty to assess advanced standing credits, approve course substitutions, and process degree audit exceptions. Facilitate and complete student degree certification. * Support students through key educational transition processes, including orientation, major exploration, transfer, and graduation. * Evaluate student needs and provide referrals to campus resources such as career services, academic support, counseling, and student life opportunities. * Recommend actions for students on academic alert, probation, suspension, or dismissal, ensuring they receive the necessary support to succeed. * Identify opportunities for high-performing student engagement and the attainment of academic and personal goals. * Utilize current advising and student success technologies for outreach and engagement with students. * Employ equity and inclusion practices to meet diverse student needs and promote a supportive environment for success. * Engage in ongoing professional development and training to stay current with advising best practice
