Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese Food Handler in Cicero, Illinois

Essential Functions of the position are detailed below, and include any physical requirements below that.

  1. Unloads the food from truck with deliveries for the food pantry.2. Stocks shelves and cold storage units with purchased and donated food.3. Packages food and supplies to be distributed to clients on a daily basis.4. Inventories food and supplies to ensure an adequate inventory is maintained and submits weekly inventories to supervisor and responsible for cleanliness of food pantry including equipment and facilities.5. Enters data into database and completes all required documentation and maintains accurate and up to date departmental documentation, as required by agency/programmatic policies and procedures, professional standards, and external requirements of all relevant regulatory, licensing or accrediting bodies.6. Serves clients in a respectful manner and respects their dietary needs.7. Follows the guidelines outlined by the licensing body.8. Operates a pallet jack/hand jack either of the electric or manual kind in compliance with machinery requirements.9. Reports all equipment malfunctions to supervisor/director.10. Must be willing to travel between sites to fill in for food pantry staff as needed.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Relevant Education:Preferred: High SchoolMinimum: GED

Relevant Experience:Preferred: 2 Years

2 Years experience working in food service and/or customer service. Previous experience working with low income families.Minimum: 1 Year

1 year experience in food service and/or customer service..

Certification/Licensure:Preferred: Food Service and Sanitation CertificateMinimum: Obtain Food Service and Sanitation Certificate within six months of hire.
