Citigroup Vice President, ICG Risk Analysis (IRAU) Underwriter in Chiyoda, Japan

ICG Risk Analysis (IRAUs) is an integral part of the Institutional Credit Management (“ICM”) organization. The IRAU’s mandate is to deliver best-in-class credit risk analysis, monitoring and credit administration as a partner to Banking and the firm’s lines of defense shared commitments to ensuring the safety and soundness of wholesale lending across ICG.

ICG Risk Analysis Underwriters (VP) are responsible for production of annual and quarterly review for High + Complexity relationships, new credit originations, or ad-hoc transactions. The role requires the person to be responsible for the continuous monitoring of their assigned relationships.

This role has responsibility of performing independent, high quality fundamental credit analysis for the portfolio of designated regional or industry relationships and the role reports directly to the ICG Risk Analysis (IRAU) (Japan) Credit Risk Portfolio Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working with various partners to support credit assignments across various portfolios and regions.

  • Ensure ongoing and timely performance in credit analysis to sustain a strong credit culture and an unwavering commitment to excellence in analysis and execution.

  • Partnership with applicable regional and industry stakeholders in BCMA, ICM Underwriting and Independent Risk in the implementation of credit assessment and monitoring standards for applicable portfolios.

  • Support Global Head of ICG Risk Analysis and the ICM Underwriting CAO on internal projects and initiatives.

  • Support ICG Risk Analysis Voice of the Employee (VOE) initiatives

  • Travel (less than 10%)​​​​​​​

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Demonstratable financial services experience, including 5-7 years of credit experience in Banking, Credit Risk Management or equivalent credit experience.

  • In-depth knowledge of Wholesale Credit Processes and organizational awareness including ICM functions, covered portfolios, and processes.

  • Strong knowledge of Citi Wholesale Credit Risk Polices and ICM/UW procedures, as well as sound understanding of Citi’s systems.

  • Credit Officer (CO) or demonstrating the skills aligned with that designation.

  • Impeccable and thorough knowledge of Citi´s systems

  • Experience in preparing presentations for seniors.

  • High awareness and adherence to the control environment including Quality Assurance and Quality Control

Skills/Competencies:

  • Strategic orientation to ensure the ICM Underwriting organization continues to be positioned as a thoughtful and proactive partner on driving best practices to support safety and soundness within ICM and Citi

  • Demonstrated record of handling highly complex annual reviews, challenging credits (e.g., cross-over credits), or episodic transactions

  • Highly effective interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and exert influence with and without direct authority.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal comments from the Portfolio Manager and the stakeholders.

  • Strong organizational skills with ability and willingness to work under pressure and manages time and priorities effectively with little to no supervision.

  • Sound written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely to audiences of varying levels of seniority.

  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills. Active listening skills.

  • Excellent presentation skills – adept at presenting effectively to audiences of various sizes and various constituencies

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) skills

  • English – Business level or above

Qualifications:

  • BA/BSc in Finance or Accounting or higher degree in Business (MBA), or any other related subject
