Citigroup Director, Relationship Manager, Markets in Chiyoda, Japan

The Markets Senior Relationship Management (SRM) team is responsible for covering the senior management of Citi’s largest Global Platinum and priority financial institution clients across all Markets products. The SRM is charged with building a strategic partnership and delivering Citi’s global franchise to the client. In addition, working to support our clients’ strategy, partnering on potential solutions and grow the total business between the firms.

Responsibilities:

• Develop strong relationships with senior management of Platinum/Priority clients in Japan. Institutionalise the Firm to Firm relationship.

• Partner effectively with respective sales and product teams to deliver the best client service as one firm.

• Promote Citi Markets’ products and service priorities across all asset classes.

• Drive the delivery of the account plan to grow business with the coverage client.

• Use Citi’s platform to support the client on their strategic objectives.

• Ensure that client receives the correct amount of resources from Citi to meet their evolving needs.

• Deliver Thought Leadership, support thematic developments and product creation (e.g. ESG, AI, etc.)

• Closely involved in optimising the firm’s resources - balance sheet allocation to clients, RWA usage, RoTCE

• Promote deeper senior management connectivity with our clients

• Monitor client trading activity – assuming joint accountability with product partners to maximize the client wallet, rankings and profitability

• Be able to work on episodic transactions and/or private side solutions as appropriate.

• Utilise all available client analytics tools

• Respond swiftly and efficiently to client requests and queries to ensure a high level of client satisfaction, always being seen by clients as a first call, a trusted adviser and an effective problem solver.

• Keep Citi Senior Management and coverage teams up to date with client strategy and priorities, as well as material developments at the client (including senior personnel changes, changes to business model, new priorities and structural challenges)

• Help resolve obstacles facing our client business as appropriate.

• Be prepared to travel and support client engagement as reasonably required

Knowledge/Experience:

• Markets experience and a track record of consistent success in a senior markets sales or RM position

• Strong understanding of the local and global business environment

• Strong knowledge of Markets products and services

• Understanding of different types of Financial Institution clients (HF, Real Money, SWF etc.)

Skills:

• A strong understanding of Markets products and services

• Some existing strong client relationships in Japan.

• Ability to develop strong relationships across the trading floor and organization to provide effective coverage to each client

• Ability and willingness to cover different types of Markets clients (Banks, Insurers, AM, etc.)

• To act as ambassadors of Citi’s franchise

• Excellent people skills

• Strong communication skills

• Strong organizational skills

• Maturity and ability to work proactively, independently and under pressure

• Ability to work cohesively and supportively in a team
