Job Title: 3rd Shift Brake Press Operator I
Job Description
We are searching for a 3rd shift Brake Press Operator to help support our production staff. The right candidate will be responsible for setting up and operating metal bending machines (Press Brake) in accordance with quality/quantity standards.
Responsibilities
Perform all dimensional inspections using calipers, height gauges, protractors, and steel rulers to ensure production output meets requirements.
Perform routine operator maintenance and operational checks on all tools and equipment utilized including tool cleaning with stone, machine oiling, fluid level/air pressure checks, and safety switch functioning.
Based on production specifications and/or Lead’s instructions, select and set-up tools, equipment, and machines required for quality productions.
Review machine tooling requirements and plan set-up/operations to optimize the flow of work through the cell/department.
Understand the effects of the forming process in downstream operations.
Make machine/tooling adjustments to bring non-conforming output into specifications.
Understand deflection of material and spring back along the piece.
Learn to adjust and control RAM speeds on the press as it comes down to bending the parts.
Understand different types of bending and how different materials react to forming, including growth or shrinking.
Load thickness, bends, and tolerances of the material.
Demonstrate a full understanding of compound tolerances.
Complete reference sheets for complicated parts.
Set-up tooling needed.
Ability to make new programs on the machine.
Achieve and maintain any certifications required in their work area.
Cross-trained in multiple workstations.
Work completely independently without supervision.
Produce quality work at company standard efficiency level for assigned work center.
Meet or exceed company standard PPM level.
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in assigned work center.
Retain the knowledge of each job.
Essential Skills
2+ years’ related experience preferred.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, blueprints, memos, and simple instructions.
Knowledge of basic business math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Experience with press brake, lathe, blueprints, mill, calipers, micrometre, micrometer, programming, setup, inspection, machine shop, axis, and G code.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High School diploma.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally loud. The work involves standing, sitting, using hands and fingers, handling or feeling, talking or hearing, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, and occasionally lifting/moving up to 25 pounds. The shop is climate-controlled.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45000.00 - $45000.00/yr.
