Lead Design/ Build Project Manager Chicopee, MA, USA 105,000-115,000 per year Salary Full Time 401k, dental, life, medical, vision Job Summary: As a Lead Mechanical Design/Build Project Manager you will be an essential player in the execution and success of design/build mechanical construction projects, primarily in the industrial market. Your responsibilities will span across project development, estimating, project management, client relationship management, and team collaboration. Your expertise will directly impact project outcomes, client satisfaction, and the overall growth of the Engineered Construction (EC) team. This role reports directly to the Vice President of Engineered Construction. This position is located within the Chicopee, MA facility, but may occasionally travel to field visits in MA, CT, and RI. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Project Leadership: Lead project management processes, oversee proposal preparation, monitor construction efforts, and ensure alignment with design, budget, and schedule. Client Relations: Build and maintain relationships with existing and potential clients, act as a customer liaison, and handle sales functions including client visits. Technical Support: Provide on-site technical guidance to crew leaders, offer innovative solutions, and ensure compliance with codes and specifications. Team Collaboration: Lead the EC team to develop and implement department SOPs, processes, and forecasts. Facilitate training and mentoring of new hires and contribute to team development and success. Procurement & Contract Management: Manage procurement of materials, equipment rental, subcontracting; assume contractual responsibility, prepare, and distribute documentation. Business Acquisition: In collaboration with EC Team, identify new work opportunities, scope out projects, prepare cost estimates, review bids, present to clients, and negotiate to successful project acquisition. Measurement and reporting: Provide timely, accurate estimates of physical work completion, costs remaining to complete, and anticipated contract changes utilizing standardized tools and reporting methods. Project cash flow management: Understand each contracts billing terms and working with the billing administrator, maximize cash flow by billing timely in alignment with project progress while obtaining change orders promptly. Education and Experience: BS in Mechanical Engineering is preferred but a degree in Construction Management, other Engineering, or Architecture is acceptable. 5-8 years of direct experience in project management, project engineering, and/or estimating of mechanical, HVAC, and energy systems is required. Mechanical construction trade exposure a plus. Experience in boilers/chillers, combined heat & power systems, process and utility piping systems, thermal-fluid systems, HVAC or green energy a plus. PE or EIT registration is a plus. Working knowledge of construction practices, contracts, scheduling, and modern software applications like MS Project, Salesforce, and Sage Master Builder or other estimating software.
