Sr Financial Analyst, Net Revenue Accounting & Reimbursement

Cost Accounting & Reimbursement Department

Position Highlights:

This position will be responsible for Reimbursement and Net Revenue functions including on-going financial analysis, participating in the month-end close process, and financial reporting for internal and external users. The main functions will include NPSR close, completing the annual Medicare Cost Report and related items, Community Benefits Report, annual surveys and audits. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist, compile and analyze data related to Medicare Cost Report, governmental audits, other related items.

  • Prepare and compile data for external reporting including the Community Benefits Report and governmental surveys.

  • Assist in preparing, compiling and analyzing contract labor accounts.

  • Manage various bundled payment arrangements and related settlements with third parties.

  • Assesses and reconciles third party liabilities, designated/undesignated reserves, and compliance reserves.

  • Calculates net patient service revenue and records related journal entries in the general ledger.

  • Prepares and compiles analysis for monthly net revenue packages for the hospitals and physician groups.

  • Collaborates with Healthcare Finance and the Managed Care Contracting department to understand and assess issues impacting revenue cycle performance.

  • Assists in the preparation of the annual net revenue budgets and long-term financial plans.

  • Collaborates with Information Systems to create various financial reports using Epic Accounts Receivable System data.

  • Prepares and compiles analysis and work papers required for various Internal and External financial audits of Net Revenue and Reimbursement.

  • Supports senior leadership through on-going and ad-hoc analysis.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications Include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.

  • 3-5 years of accounting and/or financial reporting experience.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong problem solving and financial analytical skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

  • Advanced Excel skills including V-lookups, pivot tables, and data analysis.

  • Strong time-management skills.

  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff.

  • Demonstrates a desire to continuously improve accounting and financial reporting skills through proactive professional development efforts.

  • Ability to work independently and creatively.

Preferred Job Qualifications:

  • CPA or master's degree.

  • Healthcare industry experience.

  • Experience with reimbursement and revenue cycle.

  • Previous experience with Crowe's Revenue Cycle Analytics (RCA) tool.
