The Shopper Marketing Brand Strategy Team is responsible for providing strategic thought leadership and support across Tyson Foods’ retail packaged brands. The ideal candidate for this position will be responsible for managing and ensuring the shopper marketing programs developed align with their assigned brand’s annual strategic plans. This role has relationship accountability with brand teams and must understand how to balance shopper marketing best practices with brand objectives. In addition, this role will develop National Shopper plans and provide feedback on Retailer Shopper plans, with a keen focus on optimizing the overall Shopper Marketing function’s ROI. This position will interact regularly with Brand, Sales, Finance, Analytics, Agency Partners and Vendors.
Lead the Shopper Marketing Team’s efforts pertaining to strategies for National Shopper and oversight of Retailer Shopper programs.
Work collaboratively with the internal Shopper Marketing Team and Agency Partners to ensure the Shopper Marketing strategies and plans, align with the Brand/Category/Portfolio goals, but also align with the goals of our strategic retail customers.
Influence multiple functions, both internally & externally, across multiple levels, in the budgeting, planning and development of programs.
Daily agency interaction and management. Build alliances with synergistic external companies and vendors.
Guide the agency in project management for specific National Shopper programming and brand innovation launches - from creative concept to execution. Write or review agency assignment briefs and serve as the brand advocate during strategic and tactical discussions with key customer Teams.
Conduct strategic business analysis and identify key business drivers, while creating and tracking agreed upon KPI's to optimize ROI.
Provide situational leadership and support where appropriate.
Execute all programs on time and within budget.
Manage one direct report – Associate Manager, Shopper Marketing
A Bachelor’s degree in marketing or another business-related field (MBA preferred, but not required).
5+ years of relevant experience, in marketing, sales, shopper marketing, eCommerce, and/or agency. Preferably on manufacturer-side and with a branded, consumer-goods company, or combination of supplier-side and manufacturer-side experience.
Food industry experience is a plus.
Computer Skills: Thorough understanding of Microsoft Office applications with a strong emphasis on building Excel spreadsheets as analysis tools. Proficient systems knowledge and experience with syndicated data (Nielsen/ Mintel /Retail Link strongly preferred).
Communication Skills: Effective presentation, verbal and written communication skills. Public speaking skills for presentations to senior management, peers, and other stakeholders required.
Additional Requirements: Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, resolve conflicts in a productive fashion and perform at a high capacity to deliver against a significant volume of work and quick turn-around on unanticipated brand or customer generated requests. Strong project planning and management skills, interpersonal skills, a total business orientation and an ability to thrive in a multitasking environment.
Potential Travel: Approximately 10%.
