FirstService Residential Senior Human Resources Manager in Chicago, Illinois
Job Overview:
As the Human Resources Manager, you’ll be responsible for leading HR operations in the Illinois market, supporting business growth and development while striving to exceeding client and associate expectations.You will demonstrate a passion for people and dedication to growing the careers of the team to sustain long-term leadership needs of the organization and promote retention.
This hybrid opportunity reports to our downtown Chicago corporate office, with occasional travel to our suburban corporate office in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.
Your Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional levels of service for our 500 associates in the Illinois market in all areas and facets of Human Resources by answering questions, responding quickly and following up on information needed
- Coach and develop HR team to promote a high-performance culture.
- Support talent acquisition function by identifying, evaluating, and attracting great talent. .
- Evaluate monthly, quarterly and annual metrics to assess talent acquisition strategies and identify opportunities for growth and adjustment.
- Encourage robust onboarding plans to effectively integrate new associates.
- Analyze causes of turnover and suggest approaches to drive improvements in associate retention.
- Partner with supervisors to coach associates to maximize performance and to implement performance improvement plans with non-performing associates.
- Act as a senior advisor to managers on employment issues, promotions, performance issues and terminations.
- Conduct thoughtful and thorough incident investigations in partnership with VP of HR or HR Generalist.
- Participate in annual and quarterly talent reviews to ensure top talent is prepared for succession planning and poor performing talent is supported with necessary resources.
- Serve as confidant for associate relation concerns and evaluate solutions for resolution.
- Produce key company-wide communications to convey, enhance and modify company culture to support company goals and drive associate satisfaction.
- Recommend organizational structure and staffing levels to accomplish company goals and objectives.
- Manage the development, maintenance and data integrity of HRIS in partnership with the Shared Service Center, including recruiting, payroll, benefits, and other key data.
- Provide timely and accurate reporting to stakeholders to guide decision-making.
- Assist associates with training and development initiatives, including identifying training needs, coordinating training programs, and evaluating their effectiveness
- Embody FirstService Residential’s core values and global service standards by serving as a culture ambassador for all associates. Partner with leaders to develop associate engagement initiatives and champion organizational change.
- Oversee annual internship program by supporting talent selection, internal stakeholder involvement, resource development and program logistics.
- Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations.
- Conduct periodic audits of associate data and applicable licensure compliance.
- Develop clear and cohesive communications for HR and company initiatives.
- Support local and national Human Resources and business initiatives with assigned projects, process improvements, and best practices.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field required.
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including leadership at a local level.
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws (FMLA, FLSA, ADA, etc.).
- Proficiency in HR systems (e.g., ADP Vantage, Jobvite, Qualtrics); HR certifications (PHR, SHRM-CP) preferred.
- Proven ability to lead teams, resolve conflicts, and manage complex situations effectively.
- Skilled in training, development, and fostering positive team morale and retention.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with management, associates, vendors, and stakeholders.
- Strong organizational abilities, attention to detail, and time management skills.
- Proficient in analyzing HR and business metrics to drive decisions and strategies.

Compensation:
$ 90000 - $ 110000 / year
