The AIG Casualty Specialty Department is a group of well trained and highly dedicated claim professionals with a breadth of claim handling experience primarily focusing on Environmental, Property, General Liability, Coverage B, Bodily Injury, Toxic Tort, Mass Tort and long tail subject matters. We take a collaborative approach in handling large, complex claims, many of which implicate significant coverage issues. Team members excel from sharing each other’s strengths and experiences. This position provides the opportunity to engage/work with senior claim, underwriting and actuarial management as well as for growth within the department and company.

How you will create an impact
Focused on Mass Tort, Toxic Tort, Environmental, Property Damage, Coverage B, Long Tail, Bodily Injury or Class Actions, you will be responsible for a portfolio of high value, complex claims from coverage inquiry through legal liability assessment and quantum analysis, to timely and accurate resolution.
Your goal will be timely, accurate and customer-focused claim resolution, minimizing indemnity exposure and mitigating vendor and legal expense – you will actively promote and demonstrate the principles of ‘Treating Customers Fairly’ in claims handling.
You will communicate regularly with internal and external stakeholders in your role as our Complex Casualty technical claims expert and thought leader.
As a senior member of the team, you will act as a deputy for the Team Manager, and will provide training, and be a technical referral point for colleagues.
You will also contribute to continuous improvement in Claims by supporting Quality Assurance / Regional Audit processes, ensuring mitigation of indemnity and expense exposure while communicating developments and outcomes as necessary to all key internal and external stakeholders.
What you’ll need to succeed
Advanced knowledge of legal / regulatory and litigation / procedural requirements for Complex Casualty Claims.
Experience in negotiation, mediation, arbitration and ADR skills on higher value complex claims.
Policy language skills enabling accurate and consistent policy wording interpretation.
A track record of following up effectively on recommendations from technical claims audits and continuous file handling improvement.
The ability to influence claims and non-claims stakeholders to effectively direct claims strategy.
The ability to assist with technical training to the team’s claim handlers as required.

For positions based in Jersey City, NJ and NYC, NY the base salary range is $89,000-$110,000. In addition, the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
