We are on the lookout for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our client. This role is based in Chicago, Illinois, within the bustling real estate industry. The successful candidate will be tasked with applying financial policies and procedures, recording, reviewing, and analyzing financial activity, as well as preparing for month-end close. This role is a contract employment opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Apply and uphold the company's financial policies and procedures, identifying inconsistencies and problems, proposing solutions to management

• Record and review financial activity each month for an assigned portfolio of business lines and client contracts of various sizes and complexities

• Analyze results and trends, reconcile balance sheet accounts to ensure our records are complete and accurate

• Prepare and assist with month-end close, leading the generation and/or review of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other activity

• Ensure timely and accurate revenue recognition in compliance with contract terms, Sarbanes-Oxley rules, and U.S. GAAP (ASC 606)

• Actively participate in transformational initiatives, including process re-engineering, technology implementation and other projects as applicable

• Support the timely and successful completion of various audits

• Read, interpret and abstract contracts, legal documents, and other agreements

• Use skills in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, Bank Reconciliations, General Ledger, Journal Entries, Microsoft Excel, Month End Close, Oracle, SAP, US GAAP, SOX - Sarbanes-Oxley.

Requirements • Proficiency in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, and Bank Reconciliations

• Demonstrated experience with General Ledger and Journal Entries preparation

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

• Experience with Month End Close procedures

• Familiarity with Oracle and SAP software

• Knowledge of US GAAP and SOX - Sarbanes-Oxley compliance regulations

• Prior experience in a senior-level accounting role

• Excellent communication and organizational skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is a plus.
