Purpose of Role:

The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting with the daily and monthly operations of the finance department.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the preparation of daily and month-end reconciliations for the futures activity between the general ledger (GL) and various external depositories and/or internal bookkeeping systems, such as, clearing organizations, carrying brokers, banks, and customer activity within the XTP bookkeeping system.

  • Responsible for the timely resolution of any differences identified on these reconciliations including the input of entries into the GL SUN and/or XTP.

  • Assist and provide back up support for client and producer FCM related interest payout computations including the set up of rates, debiting/crediting amounts in XTP, accrual of monthly amounts and responding to various inquiries regarding these items.

  • Active involvement with the monthly commission payout calculation process including the brokerage receivables calculations and collection process.

  • Prepare miscellaneous daily reports for management, including ad hoc reporting and data analysis.

  • Review existing departmental policies and procedures, and institute updates where needed.

  • Ensuring compliance with the company’s regulatory requirements under the SEC, FINRA, NFA, CFTC and other applicable exchanges.

  • Adhere to the operational risk framework for your role ensuring that all regulatory or company determined parameters are complied with.

  • Role model for demonstrating highest level standards of integrity and conduct and reflecting Company Values.

  • To ensure that you are fully aware of and adhere to internal policies that relate to you, your role or any other activities for which you have any level of responsibility.

  • To report any breaches of policy to Compliance and/ or your supervisor as required.

    Requirements

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.

  • At least 3 years’ experience in accounting.

  • Experience in the Financial Service Industry.

  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Proficient with computers and applicable software.

  • Experience with PeopleSoft or similar Oracle G/L,

  • XTP back-office systems experience is a plus.

  • Expert level ability with Microsoft Excel

  • Experience writing reports, correspondence, and procedures.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience working in a regulated environment and knowledge of the risk and compliance requirements associated with this.
