As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), you will treat a wide variety of mental health conditions that reflect the needs of our diverse patient population. You will interact directly with patients in an outpatient clinical setting and work as part of a collaborative team to provide exceptional behavioral health care.

This is a full-time, 1.0 position (28 billable hours / 40 total hours per week) that offers the ability to flex your schedule to meet your needs and the needs of the client. This position is based out of our office at 4753 N. Broadway in Chicago . Candidates must reside within a commutable distance from our office. Opportunities to occasionally work remotely from home doing telehealth sessions may be considered. This is a salaried position with quarterly bonus potential after six months of employment.

Primary Responsibilities:

Perform acute and long-term psychiatric care, including:

  • Assessments, diagnoses, treatment, and management of mental health conditions

  • Communicating condition information

  • Preventative care

  • Understanding patient medical history, current mental health status, serious mental illness symptoms, behavioral disorders, chronic disease, substance abuse, and other factors impacting mental health

  • Creating and updating treatment plans

  • Clinical documentation

  • Medication management

  • Medication administration

  • Patient monitoring

  • Psychotherapy

  • Crisis intervention

  • Promoting mental health awareness

  • Educating patient and families

  • Collaborating with healthcare professionals

  • Ordering and interpreting lab tests and diagnostic testing

  • Making referrals

Required Qualifications:

  • Board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) in the state of Illinois

  • Active Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license for prescribing controlled substances

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

  • Experience working with adolescents, teens, and/or adults

  • Demonstrated psychiatric clinical competency

  • Proven ability to provide psychiatric assessment and strong diagnostic & evaluation skills

  • Proven ability to provide patient education, specifically regarding medication treatment adherence and aftercare services

  • Proven ability to counsel patients using advanced psychotherapeutic techniques, including in group settings, if needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Full Practice Authority License for Illinois

  • 2+ years of clinical experience in psychiatric/mental health nursing in an outpatient setting

  • Expertise in treatment of substance addiction and co-occurring disorders

  • Experience working with patients in different age groups, including older adults

  • Experience working with couples or family counseling

  • Experience with health psychology

  • Experience working with computers for professional communication and medical documentation - Excel, Outlook, Athena RMS (or other EHRs)
