The Manager, HSSE Strategy & Governance - Performance will contribute to the development, maintenance, measurement, and optimization of the RWE Clean Energy, LLC (RWECE) HSSE Management System, and the software platforms, community page(s), etc. in which it is integrated.
This role will routinely involve the design, development, revision, and continuous enhancement of HSSE-related policies, programs, procedures, forms, checklists, etc., in accordance with internal requirements, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
The individual in this role must possess demonstrable knowledge, skills, experience, discernment, and interpersonal abilities directly related to [1] the North American energy industry and [2] the continuous improvement of HSSE (Health, Safety, Environmental Protection & Physical Security).
The individual in this role must be capable of driving the organization toward achieving and maintaining ISO 45001 (Health & Safety) certification and integrating fundamental ISO 14001 (Environmental) and ANSI/ASIS PAP.1 (Physical Security) practices within a consolidated HSSE management system that addresses all relevant HSSE aspects.
Responsibilities:
Create and continuously improve HSSE-related management system documentation (policies, programs, procedures, process maps, forms, checklists, etc.) in various HSSE software tools and applications
Perform HSSE Management System Representative duties for the Performance & Governance team
Design the HSSE-related data structure needed to collect and perform insightful and predictive data analysis using digital / web-based HSSE software tools and applications
Perform ‘Project Manager’ responsibilities for HSSE-related innovation / continuous improvement projects to advance the organization’s performance
Routinely collaborate with inter-departmental personnel to anticipate, monitor, measure, respond, and learn from risks, identify organizational weaknesses, and capitalize on improvement opportunities using various methodologies and interdisciplinary skills
Perform other relevant duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director, Performance & Governance based on the requirements and evolving needs of the business
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) or a closely related field of study is required; and
A recognized Project Management training/certification (e.g., PMP) is required
Occupational Health & Safety management required
Project Management experience required
Design, implementation, and continuous improvement of Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Management Systems (e.g., ANSI Z10, ISO 45001)
Minimum of 6 years in the field of Occupational Health & Safety or a closely related field is required
Minimum of 6 years in the energy industry (North America) is required
Microsoft 365, Visio, Excel, Tableau, and PowerBI
Various energy technologies (e.g., solar, wind, battery storage, high voltage transmission, oil and gas, nuclear, etc.)
Extensive experience with Microsoft 365 (i.e., Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, etc.)
Strong experience with Tableau, PowerBI, and Azure
Demonstrated competency in the HSSE management discipline, particularly with administrative law, ‘IBR’ standards, and consensus standards related to HSSE
Implementation and management of HSSE related ‘Software as a Service’ (SaaS) platforms such as Intelex, Isometrix, KPA Flex, UL360, etc., (for example)
Demonstrated competency in Project Management
Skills in preparing and presenting concise and accurate information to executive leadership, internal and external customers, stakeholders, etc., across the organization
Mathematical/statistical knowledge and affinity to work with numbers/statistics regularly
Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds
Independent problem-solving skills and ability to influence stakeholders in order to gain a desired result
Strong initiative and self-confidence to find solutions and solve problems independently
Reliable and systematic manner of working, customer orientation, resilience with being able to manage multiple stakeholder expectations centrally
Detail-oriented and consistently striving for high-quality results
Responds well to direction, is easy to challenge and develop, and is coachable
Ability to work independently, collaboratively via technology, as well as in-person at various locations across the North American regions
Ability to travel up to 25% is required
This position is an office-based role that involves some travel and visits to other RWECE offices and field locations
Must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time
Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in California or New York is $108,000 - $162,000. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
