Job Summary

Reporting to the Executive Director of Partnerships and Credential Programs and the Faculty Lead of Strategic Initiatives at the Harris School, the Program Associate of Custom Programs at the Student Recruitment and Global Outreach (SRGO) team will primarily focus on the faculty support and program operations work for non-degree credential and custom programs at the Harris School of Public Policy. The Program Associate will work closely with internal faculty members and external stakeholders including domestic and international corporations, governmental agencies and non-profit organizations to develop products that serve the client and learner\'s needs. This is a highly comprehensive and agile role focusing on faculty engagement and efficiency enhancement for non-degree programs at Harris. It requires excellent communication (verbal and written), project management and decision-making skills. Depending on the specific faculty and/or program needs, the person may manage a group of student workers and/or teaching and research assistants as well.

Responsibilities

  • Faculty Administrative, Academic and Research Support - 50%
  • Working closely with Harris faculty, especially the Faculty Lead of Strategic Initiatives, to manage faculty calendar and projects. It includes managing calendars and scheduling meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements.
  • Attending meetings with the Faculty Lead of Strategic Initiatives; synthesizing discussion points to form proposals, project plans, and next step to-dos. Drafting and editing documents, reports, presentations, and other communications on behalf of faculty.
  • Organizing and coordinating events such as conferences, seminars, workshops, and guest lectures.
  • Assisting with grant applications, including gathering necessary documentation and adhering to submission guidelines. Conducting literature reviews, compiling research data, and preparing reports.
  • Custom Program Design & Operations - 50%
  • Assisting faculty with the preparation of custom program materials, such as syllabi, lecture notes; coordinating and supporting classroom activities, including technology setup and material distribution.
  • Designing and delivering the learner experience starting from orientation, scheduling courses/classes/live events, creating and managing Canvas sites, managing student workers/teaching assistants, and faculty communication and relationships building.
  • Managing the program budget (expenses, revenue, net revenue).
  • Tracking key metrics to measure the performance of programs and continuously improve the learner experience.
  • Supporting other staff members at Harris Chicago team to ensure smooth operations of other projects and tasks\' delivery.
  • Analyzes program budgets and uses a moderate/high level of authority to recommend or makes budgetary recommendations.
  • Interacts with faculty, researchers and staff for committee work or information.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Education:

  • Master in Public Policy or similar master-level degree.

Experience:

  • Prior experience in faculty communication, learning program development, or learning technology and management in an educational setting.
  • Teaching assistance experience with undergraduate, graduate or working professional groups.
  • Experience with the University of Chicago or other peer institutions, and/or student-facing experiences.
