Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution and the teaching hospital for Rush Medical and Nursing Colleges, located in downtown Chicago, invites applications for the position of Onco-Nephrologist.
The Rush University Division of Nephrology and Hypertension and the Rush MD Anderson Cancer Center at Rush University are seeking a dedicated Onco-Nephrologist to join our multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will specialize in the intersection of oncology and nephrology, focusing on the management of kidney-related complications in cancer patients. This role involves clinical care, research, and collaboration with oncology teams to enhance patient outcomes through integrated care.
Key Responsibilities:
· Clinical Care - This will include a mix of outpatient and inpatient units.
o Evaluate and manage acute and chronic kidney diseases in cancer patients, including those undergoing chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapies.
o Provide consultation for nephrotoxicity associated with cancer treatments.
o Manage electrolyte disorders and other renal complications specific to oncology patients.
· Collaboration:
o Work closely with oncologists, hematologists, radiation oncologists, and other specialists to provide integrated care.
o Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and case discussions.
o Collaborate with the oncology team on treatment plans to minimize nephrotoxicity and optimize renal outcomes during and after cancer treatments
· Research and Education:
o Conduct and participate in research on kidney-related complications in cancer patients, with a focus on innovative treatment approaches.
o Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at professional conferences.
o Educate trainees, fellows, and staff on the management of nephro-oncologic conditions.
· Program Development:
o Develop and enhance the onco-nephrology program within the institution.
o Establish protocols and guidelines for the management of kidney complications in oncology patients.
o Participate in quality improvement initiatives to optimize patient care.
Qualifications:
· MD or DO with board eligibility in Nephrology.
· Onco-nephrology fellowship training and/or experience in Onco-Nephrology is highly desirable.
· Strong interest and demonstrated experience in the management of nephrotoxicities and renal complications in cancer patients.
· Proven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
· Commitment to research, education, and quality improvement in onco-nephrology.
Preferred Skills:
· Expertise in managing complex nephrology cases in oncology settings.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
· Experience in research and a track record of academic contributions in onco-nephrology.
