Job Description

Key tasks include tracking model performance and KRIs to govern the model risk ongoing monitoring initiatives. These tasks will also assist in preparation of committee and other risk reporting. Employ academic and industry experience to effectively understand, review and challenge CIBC Capital Markets modeling assumptions, methodologies, and performance. Work with the team to solve complex problems and takes a broad perspective to identify solutions.

Preferred knowledge and skills include: 3-5 years of experience in risk management and/or financial services more broadly; knowledge of SQL, Python, SAS, or R is a plus; experience with model development or validation is a plus; excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills; knowledge of MS Office products (Access, Excel, PowerPoint).

Additional requirements include the following:

  • Familiarity with methodologies for quantifying and analyzing market risks;

  • Knowledge of VAR and PFE methodologies

  • Familiarity with methodologies for quantifying and analyzing market and credit risks.

  • Demonstrated interest in markets and macro trends and the ability to assess impact on

  • client portfolios

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with particular ability to translate technical

  • complex issues for a variety of audiences.

  • Bachelor’s degree with quantitative discipline including business, finance, engineering, mathematics, statistics, or economics. Master's degree is a plus.
