Job Description Summary

The Clinical Applications Manager oversees the Clinical Applications team, ensuring the successful implementation, optimization, and support of Shirley Ryan AbilityLab\'s clinical IT systems. This role manages system enhancements, resolves issues, and aligns application projects with organizational priorities. The manager directs project planning and execution, allocates resources effectively, and ensures timely delivery of system improvements. Additionally, they develop documentation, support training initiatives, and collaborate with stakeholders to enhance clinical workflows and patient care through technology.

Job Description

The Applications Manager - Clinical Applications will:

  • Lead and manage the clinical applications team, ensuring effective installation, configuration, and testing of software applications.
  • Oversee Cerner clinical application systems through their full lifecycle, from implementation to ongoing optimization.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Clinical Applications to establish project priorities, sequencing, and execution.
  • Manage and prioritize system enhancements and fixes, effectively allocating staff resources for post-implementation support.
  • Support application software selection processes and ensure alignment with organizational needs.
  • Utilize standard project management methodologies to oversee budgets, work plans, staffing, and communication plans.
  • Ensure projects are executed within defined charters, including goals, strategy, scope, resource allocation, and risk management.
  • Oversee project personnel and vendor resources, ensuring projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Provide regular project status reports, communicate issues proactively, and adjust schedules as needed while maintaining alignment with the overall program plan.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project documentation, ensuring centralized storage and accessibility.
  • Assist in the creation of training materials to support clinical adoption.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in the best interest of SRAlab.

Reporting Relationships

  • Reports directly to the Director, IT and Clinical Applications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

  • Bachelor\'s degree in Information Systems (e.g., Computer Science) or a clinical field (e.g., RN, PT, OT, etc.).
  • 7+ years of experience managing clinical application implementations in a healthcare setting.
  • Proven project and rocess management skills.
  • Strong strategic thinking with the ability to align projects with Shirley Ryan AbilityLab\'s broader vision.
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence and innovation in healthcare technology.
  • Experience leading and developing IS application teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of application lifecycle management and development methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen to prioritize work, assess project costs/benefits, and manage trade-offs.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage executives, clinical staff, and technical teams.
  • Solid judgment and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability for team performance.
  • Proven track record in delivering superior customer service.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet evolving organizational needs.
  • Ability to build strong relationships across SRAlab and with external partners.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and leadership growth.
  • Experience with Cerner Millennium highly preferred.
