How does this role contribute to our collective success?

This role will join our innovation team, which is comprised of highly skilled generalists with various insurance & role backgrounds. Although our team is highly collaborative, all team members are expected to have a level of autonomy.

The innovation program manager position has a broad range of responsibilities, including tracking innovation initiatives, developing, and managing key communications, leading/supporting key initiatives and projects. The ideal candidate has varied experience in business analysis, project management, stakeholder & change management. To be successful, this individual must be forward looking, knowing when to apply the appropriate tool, engagement style, and project methodologies to achieve the optimal outcome.

What will you do in this role?

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Ensure effective communication and alignment among all stakeholders, including sourcing and integrating their input throughout the innovation/project management lifecycle.

  • Assisting in the identification and risk mitigation associated with investment proposals and projects.

  • Supporting the innovation & concept management lifecycles by iteratively improving our process & tools based on feedback & collaboration with our stakeholders.

  • Coordinating and delivering the key messages regarding Innovation decisions and status through the innovation management lifecycle.

  • Supporting the development of project investment committee (PIC) artifacts (POC proposal, project investment proposals, business cases, initiative definition/charter, PILOT proposal and execution plan, evaluation/success criteria, planning and execution of agreed upon project activities)

  • Tracking and prioritizing innovation lead initiatives, objectives, and priorities from concept to Proof-of-Concept (POC), Request for Proposals (RFP), project investment proposals (PIP), and Pilot implementation through completion.

  • Supporting the Head of Innovation & Process Management in assembling all internal and external executive level presentations and ensuring all necessary stakeholders have the appropriate level of awareness and engagement.

  • Reviewing ongoing implementation of goals and objectives to ensure alignment with overall corporate strategies and immediate needs.

  • Assisting the innovation team in evaluating and advising on process opportunities for efficiency and productivity.

  • Supporting with ad-hoc exploratory research on innovation opportunities

  • Continuously reviewing and adjusting our activities to keep alignment with the AXIS strategic roadmap.

What experience/skills are we looking for:

  • Excellent customer engagement skills- able to facilitate, collaborate, influence, organize and drive resolution across different stakeholders within a cross functional organization.

  • Success in organizing and facilitating delivery of successful projects/initiatives.

  • Solid ability to outline and create powerful business presentations for senior & mid-level management.

  • Solution and delivery oriented, with ability to pivot direction based on business need.

  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to excellence.

  • Proven ability to develop comprehensive business cases and manage complex projects.

  • Excellent stakeholder management with ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.

  • Aptitude for multi-tasking, working to emerging and tight timelines.

  • Experience working with geographically dispersed teams.

  • Assist in developing, investigating, conducting analysis, and developing high level recommendations…particularly for process improvement, new process design, applying innovation opportunities etc.​

  • Strong analytical thinking with the ability to identify, explore and push creative ideas.

  • Insurance industry experience especially focused on Specialty & Commercial Lines Insurance- Operations, Underwriting, Claims, etc.

  • Proficient in project management software/methodologies (MS Project, Azure DevOps, Confluence, Jira, OpenText, etc) / Agile, Waterfall, Scrum

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, Risk Management, or related field.

  • Certification or equivalent in Business Analysis (IIBA) and/or Project Management (PMP) certifications

For this position, we currently expect to offer a base salary in the range of: $110-$150k _, the specific salary offer will be based on an assessment of a variety of factors including the experience of the successful candidate and their work location. In addition, all employees are eligible for competitive incentive targets, with awards based on overall corporate and individual performance.
