Smithbucklin, a 100 percent employee-owned association management company, is looking for a Human Resources Associate to join the HR team in our Chicago office.The Human Resources Sr Associate will have primary areas of responsibility in HR Operations - data entry, new hire communications, ownership of several critical HR administrative processes and be a primary connector with employees. Candidates must be able to interact with employees in a professional and approachable manner. Having a strong client service attitude is key. What You Will Do:
Process focused
Provide support in various day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department, including maintaining the entry and accuracy of all employee data in HRIS (ADP); new hires, employee changes, leaves and separations
Own all new hire communications post offer through first two weeks and co-facilitate new hire orientation twice a month
Assist employees with new hire paperwork, tasks or questions during and after orientation
Manage personnel files on shared drive to ensure completion and organization
Perform internal data audits for HR operations – titles, reviewing supervisors, emergency contacts, etc.
Support HR reporting needs and ad hoc requests along with HR Coordinator
Ensure that established processes and any associated SOPs are updated and followed
Make recommendations for process changes or improvements as needed
Employee focused
Provide service to employees by answering HR policy or process questions and addressing requests – for both HR Operations, in person, by phone and through email
Respond to employment verifications
Collect and process new hire paperwork such as I-9s and other documents
Track completion of employee compliance such as handbook acknowledgement and workplace harassment training
Own management of HR team inbox
Team/company focused
Support HR Business Partners
Perform other HR related duties as required and assigned
Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Meticulous attention to detail
Experience juggling multiple assignments and prioritizing tasks
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Education & Work Experience Required
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 1 year of experience in a professional role, HR or legal experience preferred
Administrative experience and experience interacting with employees/customers from varying backgrounds; in person and via email
MS Office skills to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

Our hybrid environment offers you the option to work from home two days per week. Employees will work a standard 40-hour week, with the possibility of additional hours based on project deadlines.
