ManpowerGroup Hardware Data Center Technician I in Chicago, Illinois

Job Title: Hardware Data Center Technician

Location: Onsite, Chicago, IL, US

Pay Range: $30.46/hr.

Duration: 6 months

Our client is seeking a skilled and proactive Data Center Technician to join their team. As a Data Center Technician, you will play a critical role in maintaining and supporting the hardware infrastructure within the data center. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, a problem-solving mindset, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a primary resolver for the support team, troubleshooting and resolving complex hardware infrastructure issues.

  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation on the technologies you support, ensuring knowledge transfer to junior staff.

  • Perform basic to intermediate system administration tasks, including remote system administration within a virtual team environment.

  • Automate routine tasks using scripts where necessary to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.

  • Work autonomously to resolve most support issues, executing small projects independently and collaborating with your manager on planning and executing larger local projects.

  • Act as the initial escalation point for junior technicians, providing guidance and support.

  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of all aspects of the equipment you support, ensuring efficient operation and maintenance.

  • Innovate and make decisions independently, while also being receptive to direction and paying close attention to detail.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in data center operations, with a strong focus on hardware infrastructure support.

  • Basic to intermediate system administration skills, with experience in remote administration and working in virtual teams.

  • Proficiency in scripting for task automation.

  • Strong documentation skills, with the ability to clearly communicate technical information.

  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and execute projects with minimal supervision.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues.

  • Experience in mentoring and providing support to junior technicians is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with data center management tools and practices.

  • Experience with a variety of hardware platforms and technologies.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
