Job Summary

This position provides leadership and direction through managers of Printing Services, Computer Acquisition, Site License software, Logistics and Receiving, ITS Purchasing and ITS Accounts Payable. This role will need to meet with IT leaders to ensure satisfaction and evaluate changing needs. Provide input and execute strategy to achieve objectives that have campus wide impact. Manage financial operations within groups to ensure each group is fiscally self-supporting and work with Director of Finance to provide regular, accurate forecasts. Work with Procurement Services to negotiate with suppliers to ensure best ROI on purchases.


  • Establishes group operating budgets including recharge and non recharge accounts.
  • Forecasts future costs and offsetting revenues to provide better long term forecasting for IT Services.
  • Identifies key sourcing partners and then negotiates cost to best benefit the University.
  • Periodically meets with customers to receive performance feedback and learn of changing demands.
  • Generates proposals for large University projects requiring large purchases.
  • Provides escalation point for upset customers.
  • In alignment with IT Services\' initiatives, fosters collaboration and maintains partnerships within ITS, vendors, and divisional and departmental IT units.
  • Assesses staff performance and monitors productivity to align staff with assignments and projects.
  • Manages staff and associated HR requirements.
  • Establishes and monitors KPIs to quantify performance and show changes over time.
  • Identifies and implements efficiencies that can better utilize University resources.
  • Provides leadership and ensures effort of Supply Chain Operation to meet or exceed process, workflow, procedural, and standardization requirements of IT Services.
  • In alignment with IT Services\' initiatives, develops and maintains a 5-year strategic plan for the organization.
  • Keeps up to date on changing technologies and trends.
  • Develops, maintains and updates process flows for the entire life cycle of equipment.
  • In alignment with campus IT strategy, IT Services\' initiatives, research and teaching activities and broader academic goals, foster collaboration, build relationships and maintain partnerships specifically with (but not limited to) other organizations within IT Services, divisional and departmental IT units, vendors, clients, and staff.
  • Develop and manage the group\'s operating budget, create and maintain a staffing plan and professional development program, assess staff performance, and monitor productivity to best apply staff talent and experience to problems and projects.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications


Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.


Work Experience:

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 7+ years of wo k experience in a related job discipline.




Preferred Qualifications


  • Bachelor\'s degree in either business or technical fields.


  • Minimum 10 years of related work experience.
  • Reviewing the specifications and materials of other team members and providing feedback.
  • Background in higher education.
  • Familiar with IT operations and auditing.
  • Budgeting and financial modeling in an auxiliary service environment.
  • Developing and implementing information technology support programs and services.

Preferred Competencies

  • Demonstrated ability to partner with stakeholders at various levels of the organization to establish consensus and deliver outcomes.
  • Independently plan deliverables and coordinate with team members.
  • Proven ability to deal with multiple concurrent projects.
  • Excellent organizational, project coordination, analytical, and interpersonal skills to develop, document and implement improvement processes.
