Job Summary

The Director, Career Management, Full-Time MBA Program is a critical member of the global Booth Career Services team. This individual functions as leader of a team of coach practitioners and educators for students in the Fulltime MBA Program, a two-year MBA program which enrolls \1,400 Booth MBA students as well as students enrolled in Booth / UChicago joint degree programs. The director plays an essential role in driving student engagement, delivering educational programming, helping students secure their first post-MBA position, and ensuring students build skills that will serve them well as they progress in their careers. Additionally, he or she will participate as a member of the Career Services leadership team and play a role in cultivating talent and mentoring Career Services staff.

This role is for a strategic thinker who is also able to provide day-to-day leadership to a group of professional career coaches. The Director will collaborate with internal groups in operations and employer relations, as well as other departments within the School and University to provide a suite of career support, including individual coaching, educational programming and online learning. This role requires a combination of expertise in strategic partnering as well an ability to maintain the role of a trusted coach.

Responsibilities

Leads and manages day-to-day activities for 5-6 career coaches serving a core population of approximately 1,400 full-time MBA students.

Crafts and executes career management strategy, in partnership with the Career Services leadership team, with an eye toward the needs of full-time students and dual-degree MBA students.

Guides career management program development and delivery, for small to large audiences of students, ranging from 5 to 300.

Coaches domestic and international students on appropriate career management and job search skills in one-on-one, small, and large group settings.

Serves as a member of the Career Services leadership team, and as requested, as a delegate of the Associate Dean of Career Services in internal and xternal forums.

Collaborates with peers in Career Services functions including Career Management for Evening and Weekend MBA and Specialized Masters programs, Employer Relations, and Operations to align efforts, ensure knowledge sharing, and manage execution of programs.

Partners with peers in Admissions, Leadership Development, Student Life, Alumni Relations and others as required to deliver integrated support for target populations.

Supports collection and analysis of employment data in compliance with industry standards.

Understands population needs and trends. Evaluates existing models for career coaching, programming and access to employment opportunities, e.g., campus recruiting, specialized / network-based search.

Solicits and analyzes student feedback and evaluations and strategizes with Career Management team, student organizations, or other Booth staff, to determine program offerings and innovations.

Keeps abreast of market trends as they relate to the job search processes around key sectors of interest to constituents.

Manages managers and professional staff within Career Services. Establishes performance goals, allocates resources and assesses policies for direct subordinates.
