Digital Business Analyst

Job Summary:
Caterpillar is looking for a Digital Business Analyst to join our product management team and work closely with the Agile delivery team and stakeholders to execute digital initiatives enabling business imperatives. In this role, you will be an advocate and bring passion and empathy for helping some of the hardest working people on the planet - Cat customers and dealers.
Through collaboration with our business partners, as well as peer product and engineering teams, you will support digital experiences that both transform and simplify our customers’ and dealers’ day to day work, as well as how they interact with the Cat brand, products, and services. This will be accomplished by first seeking to understand our customers’ needs and workflow, as well as our business objectives. You will then lead the execution of integrated, cross product initiatives to translate those needs into compelling experiences and ultimately requirements.

What You Will Do:
This role will have primary responsibility for creating, analyzing and validating business requirements, translating them into detailed functional requirements and user stories, defining acceptance criteria and test cases, and tracking dependencies.
Maximize the value of the product and the work of the Development Team through strong partnership with engineering on creation, maintenance, and prioritization of a product backlog
Responsible, when necessary, for acting as Product Owner for larger, more complex projects with high value to the organization
Collaborates on the vision of what is to be built and conveying that vision to the team
Assists with the translation of epics and features into user stories that are small enough, or granular enough, to be achieved in a single sprint
Work closely with key stakeholders throughout the organization
Participate in Daily Scum, Sprint Planning meetings, Reveals and Retrospectives
Inspect the product progress at the end of every Sprint and accept or reject the work that has been done by the Development Team
Project manage components of a complex, cross product initiatives with high value to the organization, including prioritization, roadmap definition, and elaboration of user stories
Partner with product managers and research to ensure we have deep understanding of customers and their processes (triggers, steps, roles, outcomes) through execution of a mixed-methods research strategy/roadmap
What You Will Have:
Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
Software Product Business Knowledge: Knowledge of and experience with the business aspects and operation of a software product; ability to manage install base, current uses, future plans, and product vision.
Software Product Management: Knowledge of software product management; ability to operate and manage software product development projects at all stages of the product development lifecycle.
User Acceptance Testing (UAT): Knowledge of UAT activities, tasks, tools and techniques; ability to design, implement and evaluate acceptance tests for end-users.
Considerations for Top Candidates
Four-year Bachelor’s degree preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems, Marketing, HCI, Psychology, Communications, Ethnography, Anthropology, Engineering or related field or equivalent working experience
3+ years in digital product management, business analysis, user experience, user research, digital strategy, or related function
1+ years applying human-centered design, lean innovation, or design thinking methodologies
Demonstrated ability to communicate appropriately to ensure a team’s success
Highly developed interpersonal skills to deal with sensitive, emotional or potentially controversial situations
Strong accountability, planning, and organizational skills
Ability to consider multiple variables of a decision and prioritize accordingly in a fast-paced environment
Experience working in an Agile environment while simultaneously managing multiple priorities
Experience managing projects using Product Management and/or Agile software tools such as Aha, ProductBoard, Azure DevOps, JIRA, Team Services, Rally
Displayed understanding of common and emerging UX and user research methodologies/artifacts
Domain expert in business applications, fleet management, and/or eCommerce

Summary Pay Range:
$87,480.00 - $131,280.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
