TEKsystems Desktop Engineer in Chicago, Illinois
Description: Our client is looking for two Desktop Engineers to join their team in Chicago, IL!
Job Summary:
Provide outstanding customer support for end-user computing environment. Demonstrates a working knowledge of best practices and follows documented processes and procedures in facilitation of service recovery, refresh, maintenance, moves and various other project related activities. Effectively interacts in collaboration with immediate team, vendors, customers and all levels of Information Service staff. Utilizes incident, project management systems to document and record all activities associated with client requests and incidents.
Job Responsibilities:
Provides customer support and incident remediation both on-site and via remote access
Effectively coordinates support tasks and activities in accordance with customer’s schedule
Demonstrates a sense of urgency and knows when to escalate 3rd-level incidents, following appropriate processes and procedures
Contributes standard formatted documentation to knowledge base
Design, implement, and manage a robust end-user technology environment that includes desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and application presentation systems.
Oversee enterprise print management, ensuring efficient operation and integration with other end-user technologies.
Develop and maintain automation scripts and processes for the deployment and management of end-user technologies.
Serve as the expert and final point of escalation for complex issues across all end-user technology platforms.
Lead initiatives for continuous improvement in end-user technology services and user experience.
Set and enforce standards for the use and management of end-user technologies, aligning with organizational goals and industry best practices.
Collaborate with IT teams to ensure a cohesive approach to technology deployment and support.
Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in end-user computing to drive innovation and improvements.
Required Job Qualifications:
· Minimum of 3 years of computer-related work experience is required
· Comprehensive knowledge of PC operating systems, printing, networking and application support
· Ability to work some nights and weekends and on call as required
· Excellent problem-solving skills
· Strong written and oral communications skills, and ability to demonstrate outstanding customer service
· Experience using ticket tracking systems
· Extensive knowledge and application of IT concepts, procedures and methodologies
· Self-motivated, goal oriented and to work independently
· Ability to adapt in a changing service environment
· Positive can-do attitude and willingness to perform routine and repetitive tasks
· Provide remote site support when needed.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
Experience with WSUS - Patch management and distribution
Experience with Active Directory - Group Policy Management, Users and Groups
Expertise in mobile tools and applications such as JAMF, Azure Intune, and Duo
Familiarity with Application Packaging
Familiarity with scripting - Windows PowerShell, SMS, VBscript, Batch/Command, and WISE
Knowledge of Windows Imaging process and image creation
Experience with HP Thin Clients (HP Device Manger) and Citrix Desktop Lock
Experience with Application Publishing and distribution through XenApp 6.5/7.12
Experience with Citrix Desktop Studio
Experience with VMWare AirWatch and Workspace One for managing mobile devices
Top Skills Details:
5+ years working with Windows and macOS environments, mobile operating systems (iOS, Android), and application presentation platforms (SCCM/MECM, Citrix XenDesktop).
Strong understanding of enterprise print services and management tools.
Experience with automation tools (PowerShell, Python) and endpoint management systems (MECM, Azure Intune, JAMF)
