BUNZL Customer Service Manager (Steiner Industries - Chicago) in Chicago, Illinois

Steiner Industries, a division of Bunzl Distribution, is a dynamic and rapidly-growing leading manufacturer of welding and industrial protective products, located in the northern part of Chicago. We are looking for a dynamic, hands-on Customer Service Manager to be responsible for the day-to-day operation and management of the Customer Service department. This is a working Customer Service Manager - a Customer Service Representative while also providing leadership and direction to the Customer Service Team to ensure excellent service to internal and external customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a team of 4-5 associates to provide world-class customer service to a diverse customer base within the welding, safety, and industrial distribution channel.

  • Responsible for overseeing the training and development of Customer Service Representatives to ensure that they deliver excellent customer service to internal and external customers.

  • Develop, monitor, and maintain appropriate Customer Service scheduling.

  • Oversee the order entry process ensuring accuracy and timeliness of orders.

  • Function as a liaison between Customer Service and other departments.

  • Monitor the overall performance of staff to ensure achievement of key performance metrics and compliance with policies, practices, and approved customer service processes.

  • Foster positive customer relationships and resolve escalations.

  • Support the team on questions related to daily processes, responsibilities and best practices.

  • Create processes and complete projects that improve the quality of service delivered to customers while improving efficiency and productivity of the team.

  • Act as a back-up to Customer Service Representatives as required.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in customer service is required, preferably in a distribution or manufacturing environment.

  • Minimum of 3 years of practical and recent, hands-on experience as a Customer Service Manager.

  • Experience in the industrial or manufacturing industry a plus.

  • High degree of competence with Microsoft Office and ERP software.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must possess strong planning, organizational, time management, and analytical problem-solving skills.

  • Must be team-oriented, dependable and a strong leader.

  • Must be able to multi-task with the ability to change direction quickly and often.

  • High level of attention to detail required.
