Farnsworth Group is seeking a Construction Technician/Engineer in one of our Northeastern IL offices in Chicago, Lisle, or Tinley Park, IL. Qualified candidates will perform construction engineering services in Central and Northern Illinois regions. You will have an opportunity to work in the field on Municipal Water and Wastewater projects.
Specific Requirements include:
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field desired
2+ years of related experience desired
IDOT or ISTHA Phase III experience desired
Active IDOT Documentation Certification, desired or willingness to obtain within 6 months
Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation and/or third-party design software helpful but not required
Skills with documentation requirements and inspection procedures
Must be willing to work outside in various weather conditions
Some travel will be required
Attention to detail, both on plans and in construction work
Able to read and interpret plans and be able to verify plan intent in the field
Able to develop relationships and communicate with clients
Encourages and supports a safety-oriented culture
Valid Driver’s License and good driving record required
Positive work ethic
Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/ or move up to 75 pounds
Work requires lifting, stooping, bending, stretching, walking, standing, climbing, pushing, pulling, and other physical exertion
Essential Functions:
Visits various construction sites to provide quality control on construction projects by ensuring plans and specifications are being adhered to by contractors and are in compliance with local/state regulations
Reviews plans on constructability in conjunction with the engineers and project managers
Attends meetings with clients and project manager to convey and/or receive information
Monitors contractor construction schedules to ensure projects are completed within established timelines
Observes testing required by contract documents to record and prepare reports
Prepares written materials to document activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information
