Robert Half Attorney/Lawyer in Chicago, Illinois

Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for an Attorney/Lawyer based in Chicago, Illinois. The role involves managing a variety of legal tasks, including civil litigation, labor law enforcement, and debt collection. You will be working in a dynamic environment, where your skills in Civil Litigation, Commercial Litigation, Complex Commercial Litigation, Complex Litigation, and Draft Motions will be put to good use.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare necessary documentation and review case law to assist in the collection of debts owed to various agencies.

• Participate in civil litigation trials and handle small collection and bankruptcy cases.

• Carry out administrative reviews for various departments such as Revenue, Employment Security, and the Property Tax Appeal Board.

• Take charge of civil enforcement of taxes administered by the Department.

• Litigate to enforce labor laws and actions to enforce licensing laws.

• Handle workers compensation claims and claims filed against various State Funds.

• Represent the Department in administrative review cases from either benefit or tax decisions.

• Prosecute civil collections cases for both benefit overpayment and non-payment of unemployment insurance taxes.

• Manage criminal prosecution of unemployment insurance fraud.

• Represent the Department in bankruptcy cases and handle subpoenas or other official requests for information. Requirements • Possess a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

• Must be licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction

• Proven experience in Civil Litigation, Commercial Litigation, Complex Commercial Litigation, and Complex Litigation

• Demonstrated ability to draft legal motions and other court documents

• Strong negotiation and communication skills

• Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines

• Knowledge of legal research techniques and databases

• High ethical standards and professional integrity

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
