Ford Motor Company Thermal Systems Engineer, pre-TPS in Cheyenne, Wyoming

Your objectives will be to develop thermal system solutions that deliver world class efficiency and comply with our core foundational requirements and vehicle system attributes. What you'll do...

  • Lead Design and Development of Thermal Systems that meet or exceed Quality, Cost, Weight, and Functional requirements

  • Deliver thermal hardware sets that support program timing and deliverables per GPDS

  • Develop thermal solutions for multiple complex programs concurrently

  • Coordinate with interfacing activities such as Program Management, Program Planning, Purchasing, Engine Systems, Vehicle Engineering, NVH, Controls/Calibration, CAE, Design, TSE/EVEMS, STA and Body Engineering to drive compatible/optimal designs that meet functional and quality targets

  • Analyze CAE and vehicle test data to assess system performance, durability, and efficiency

  • Capture lessons learned from other programs/benchmarking & incorporate into future designs

  • Lead cross functional team meetings and design reviews

  • Provide design direction to CAD team

  • Coordinate system attribute assessments (coolant/refrigerant hydraulics, heater warm-up/defrost and AC performance) with CAE teams

  • Support EVEMS team with thermal related impact studies to vehicle range

  • Some travel may be required

You'll have...

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related degree

  • 5+ years of experience with vehicle thermal system development

Even better, you may have...

  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related degree

  • 10+ years of experience with vehicle thermal system development

  • Experience with complex refrigerant & cooling system development especially for electrified applications

  • Ability to resolve complex issues quickly and effectively communicate to management

  • Ability to communicate clearly and express new ideas

  • Demonstrate delivery of results

  • Ability to balance objectives and resolve conflicts

  • Working knowledge of FMEA’s, 8-D’s

  • Knowledge of MS Office Tools

  • Familiarity with engineering CAD and CAE tools

  • Familiarity with Ford tools (GPDS, Teamcenter)

This position is a range of salary grades SG8 .
