Job Summary:
Responsible for daily oversight of construction operations, including project planning, budgets, scheduling, materials supplyand general oversight of construction teams within assigned area.
Main Responsibilities:
Embrace the Company's safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
Support, promote, and practice the Company's core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies
Promotes safety of all operations in assigned area; actively involved in continuously improving safety processes
Supports and promotes company strategy initiatives
Supervises all aspects of construction operations in assigned area/region
Hires, directs and promotes development of supervisory personnel, holds general oversight of subcontractors and staff engaged in planning and implementing construction projects
Communicates goals and objectives to construction teams; holds teams accountable for performance
Assigns projects and work to superintendents and others reporting under the scope of the role
Develops and coordinates implementation of plans for efficient use of materials, machines, and employees
Coordinates with asset management personnel to ensure required equipment is received on a timely basis
Assists with forecasting, budgeting, and scheduling; analyzes variances and recommends improvements
Monitors all aspects of construction performance and construction cash flow
Reviews and approves construction methods, schedules and performance and coordinates use of equipment
Reviews construction costs and product quality; modifies programs to maintain and enhance profitable operations
Develops and maintains positive relationships with regulatory, government, and industry officials
Assures compliance with applicable laws and regulations issued by all regulatory agencies
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or similar area of study, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
Valid driver's license and ability to maintain a clean motor vehicle record required
Skills:
5 or more years of progressive experience handling paving, utility, and/or road and bridge construction pro ects
Ability to lead and motivate others; at least 5 years of experience effectively managing and leading teams
Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local agency (OSHA/MSHA, DEQ, DOT, etc.) regulations
Experience handling budgets and performing financial analysis
Self-directed, results-oriented, and highly motivated, requiring minimal direct guidance
Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, problem-solve, and work under consistent pressure of deadlines
Demonstrated proficiency using computer programs, including MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, etc.), and production/scheduling planning software
Physical Requirements:
Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE), as required by company safety guidelines
Occasionally required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
Regularly required to drive a vehicle to worksites and offices; may be required to occasionally operate heavy equipment
Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
Regularly required to sit for long periods at a desk using a computer
Work performed in office and field environments; frequent exposure to typical construction site conditions, including dust and loud noise, and all types of weather conditions
Regularly required to stand and walk over uneven terrain
Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
Extensive travel with overnight stays away from home may be required
Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle and manipulate objects, write, use a keyboard and/or mobile device
Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear), and perform tasks requiring visual acuity
