Wolters Kluwer Senior Database Developer, Web Application in Cheyenne, Wyoming

As part of Wolters Kluwer, ESG division, Teammate+ is a global leader in audit and assurance expert solutions with 30 years dedicated to advancing corporate, commercial, and public sector audit.

As a Sr. Database Developer , Web Application, you will work as part of a team developing cutting edge software and enhancements with an award-winning product. Using your excellent problem-solving skills, you will work with the team Architect in creating solutions for a variety of industries and customers. The intent of the role is a SQL developer that will write/review/tune queries to support the teams developing the web application, as well as design schema for the OLTP and reporting databases and provide guidance and support as subject matter expert in SQL.

In this position, you will report to the Director, Product Software Engineering, and work from your remote home office. There is no VISA sponsorship for this position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with Architect to define the design of the product.

  • Implement queries, procedures and database changes to support feature development.

  • Work across Agile teams to provide support, guidance and implementation of complex queries and schema changes.

  • Ability to prioritize work items, provide estimations and clearly communicate status/progress.

  • Conduct Code Reviews, analyze issues identified by Static analysis tools

  • Collaborate with DevOps team for troubleshooting deployment issues, if any

  • Participate in release upgrades to production

  • Contribute to necessary Architecture documentation, participate in gate review to include Infrastructure, security, and performance.

  • Ensure that deliverables are self-certified prior to transitioning to the downstream consumers of the deliverable (QA and customers).

  • Candidate should have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Minimum high school diploma, Bachelor's degree preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years' experience in database development. Prefer experience with product development.

Technical Experience:

  • Good hands-on experience on with SQL Server 2016-2022.

  • Hands on experience and very strong in performance tuning of queries, SP etc.

  • Strong understanding of SQL Server internals (Index structures, Statistics, Cardinality estimation, etc).

  • Hands on experience interpreting execution plans to enhance performance of queries.

  • Expertise in deadlock solving scenarios.

  • Expertise working with OLTP and Reporting types of databases.

  • Hands on experience with ETL processes utilizing SSIS.

  • Assisting in production deployment release cycle.

  • Hands on experience in C#/.NET is added advantage.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and critical thinking.

  • Ability to write queries and fine tune the queries.

  • Good team player and able to mentor juniors.

  • Understanding of and experience with an agile SDLC

  • Experience in product release cycle, best practices, code reviews and defect management. Efficient in handling changes and enhancements.

  • Strong knowledge of multi-threading and application clustering, scalability, performance, application security, code analysis and optimization.

  • Good database concepts and hands on in design and development.

  • Ensure best design practices and processes are followed for continuous improvement of product.
