Description
JOB SUMMARY:Lifeguard is responsible for surveying pool and conducting rescues to help weak or injured swimmers get to safety. Their duties include speaking with swimmers to enforce swimming rules keeping track of each swimmer in the water and administering first aid to injured swimmers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Enforce all swim center policies, rules and regulations
- Rescue and resuscitate any victim as needed following department protocols
- Maintain the swim center's sanitary appearance
- Work any scheduled assignments
- Routinely requires duties involving the potential for exposure to blood or blood borne pathogens. Federal regulations require that the incumbent be offered Hepatitis B vaccine within 10 days of initial assignment and attend a training session prior to commencement of duties.
- Maintain current certifications.
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE AND BACKGROUND:
- Life Guard certification
- CPR and first aid training preferred
WORKING CONDITIONS/HAZARDS:
- Indoors in a temperature-controlled aquatic center.
WORK SCHEDULE/HOURS:
- Monday - Friday Aquatic Center Hours 7:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. Weekend hours vary.
