Industrial Technology Services Industrial Skilled Trades Cost Estimator in Chesterfield, Michigan
Industrial Technology Services is looking for a Skilled Trades Cost Estimator to join our team. We are a Process Piping/Mechanical contractor specializing in the design and installation of manufacturing systems. This individual would be responsible for estimation of all costs related to time, materials, labor, and any other resources or services required to accurately design, propose and estimate a project. This role requires an understanding of project requirements, provided by the project manager, and the ability to work closely with project managers, engineers, customers, vendors, subcontractors and other sources to ensure accurate project specifications.
Essential Duties/ Responsibilities:
- Review plans and specifications to prepare a comprehensive project estimate.
- Create drawings to build from and to share with the customer for approval
- Collaborating with engineers, clients, contractors, superintendents, municipalities and government agents and others to discuss estimates, plan project steps and resolve issues.
- Assessing cost effectiveness and identifying potential financial risks.
- Identify any non-compliances with safety, health, and environmental quality standards.
- Analyzing data collected from job sites, vendors and other areas of concern to compile detailed cost information.
- Prepare detailed reports, estimates or bids for submission to project managers using the required form.
- Adjusting estimates and recommendations based on changes and updates to projects, as directed by the project manager.
- Maintaining records of estimated costs.
- Address problems with materials or customers with project managers.
- Blueprint reading, and creation of drawings as needed.
- Confer with project managers, technical personnel, and other departments to resolve problems and coordinate activities.
Job Qualifications:
- A minimum of 10 years verifiable experience specializing in the design and installation of manufacturing systems (i.e., cooling tower water, chiller systems, material handling, compressed air, etc.) or a bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering or mathematics, or a professional certification such as: Certified Cost Professional (CCP) or Certified Estimator Technician (CET).
- Experience in design and building in industrial manufacturing environments, as well as a thorough knowledge of building trades.
- Ability to calculate figures and values such as percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Also, the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Must have the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and technical documents.
- Experience with databases and management software.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards and compliance with PPE.
- Ability to multitask, detail oriented, strong organizational and problem-solving skills, and strong time- management skills.
- Current valid driver license with a clean driving record.
Physical Requirements of Position:
- This position is required to do extensive walking through factory environment production areas.
- Must have the ability to independently lift and carry objects safely that weigh up to 20 lbs. routinely, 50 lbs. frequently, and 80 lbs. occasionally.
- Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing with others.
- Must be able to travel to the job sites as assigned in state and out of state.
