Job Title: Mechanical Assembler

Job Description

As a Mechanical Assembler, you will work in either the Sub Assembly or General Assembly area. You will use hand and power tools to add fasteners, clips, and other hardware onto window units. Responsibilities include caulking, painting materials, wrapping final units, and inspecting for flaws throughout the assembly process. This role requires you to stand and walk for an 8-hour shift, working with large panes of glass and sheet metal, and occasionally going outside to retrieve materials or conduct unit testing.

Responsibilities

  • Add brackets, fasteners, clips, or other hardware onto window units using hand and power tools.

  • Use caulking guns to fill spaces in window units.

  • Paint the ends of materials and apply netting/wrapping around final units.

  • Inspect units throughout the assembly process for any flaws.

  • Meet daily and overall production goals for the assigned department and assembly line.

  • Be flexible and willing to learn different parts of the assembly process.

  • Work with large pieces of glass and sheet metal, ensuring precision.

  • Retrieve materials from the yard and conduct unit testing as needed.

Essential Skills

  • Mechanical aptitude.

  • Ability to proficiently read a tape measure.

  • Minimum of 6 months experience in an assembly role.

  • Proficient use of hand and power tools.

  • Positive attitude and great listening skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Computer skills are a plus.

  • Experience in construction or home improvement is ideal.

  • Flexibility to perform various tasks such as material handling and cleaning.

  • Strong can-do attitude and ability to follow instructions well.

Work Environment

The facility is non-climate controlled and can be noisy due to machinery. The manufacturing environment is busy, with large pieces of glass, sheet metal, and steel frames. Shift time is from 7 am to 3:30 pm, with potential for mandatory overtime during the week and Saturdays if required. The team-oriented environment requires flexibility and the ability to work both indoors and outdoors.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chester, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
