ABOUT THE ROLE

The Plant Manager is responsible to provide the necessary leadership to plan, direct, organize, coordinate and control the production of fly ash for the construction industry. The Plant Manager is responsible for all aspects of the fly ash beneficiation plant including, but not limited to, personnel safety, environmental compliance, equipment operational efficiency, product quality, and financial performance.

The Plant Manager will ensure proper staffing and monitoring of the inventory status at the Plant and in addition will coordinate activities with the following departments: Cement Sales, Fly Ash Quality Control, Chesterfield Site Operations, and Geocycle Executive Leadership.

The Plant Manager will analyse and monitor production efficiency and overall productivity to ensure the Company is meeting project and sales objectives.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Lead and foster a culture of safety which includes developing and implementing safety best practices, implementing physical changes to the facility to reduce safety risks, and investigate incidents in order to find root causes of accidents and injuries

  • Ensure operations are in compliance with all permits and regulations

  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures

  • Oversee the hiring and training of the workforce consisting primarily of plant operators and maintenance personnel

  • Establish, measure, hold employees accountable to Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Initiate and implement production and scheduling related programs, strategies and techniques that will result in increased productivity and improved safety while operating within the defined operating budget

  • Coordinate with Holcim fly ash technical experts and customers in order to ensure a high level of product quality

  • Manage preventative maintenance program to provide for high equipment reliability; ensure plant operations achieve greater than 90% reliability

  • Manage the budgets in order to achieve annual financial targets

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Education: Bachelor's degree

Field of Study Preferred: Engineering, Business, or related field

Required Work Experience:

  • 5-7 years experience, 5+ years supervisory experience

  • Production or Maintenance Supervisory experience in cement, power, or pulp/paper preferred

Required Computer and Software Skills: Microsoft office

Travel Requirements: 10%

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
