Job Title: Grounds Maintenance Operative

Based At: Broughton, Chester

Reports To: Grounds Supervisor

Hours of Work

· Summer : 07:00 to 16:00 Monday to Thursday, 07:00 to 13:00 Friday

30 mins unpaid lunch per day, 40hrs per week.

· Winter : 18:00 to 02:30 Monday to Friday,

30 mins unpaid lunch 40hours per week

Winter hours run between November – March and are split between the team.

Purpose of Job

To provide efficient and effective grounds maintenance support to the client in Broughton, ensuring general appearance of the grounds are maintained in accordance with the required standards. Observe safe working practices in carrying out the required duties and ensure that instructions specified by management are adhered to.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Always maintain the professional image of CBRE.

  2. Establish and maintain a good working relationship with all CBRE employees and clients’ representatives.

  3. Ensure that Planned Preventative Grounds & Horticultural Maintenance is carried out in line with task schedules and industry best practices. Inclusive of Winter Contingency and associated gritting.

  4. Identify any defects found to Line Manager.

  5. Attend site and carry out reactive repairs as instructed by Line Manager.

  6. To clear litter, leaves and debris from around the site, and clean up spillages as required.

  7. Using small road sweeper to clean road edges and general site

  8. Emptying of general waste, recycling and cigarette bins.

  9. To ensure that gullies, drains etc. are kept free from debris.

  10. To dispose of waste materials in a safe, hygienic manner ensuring that it is available for collection as required.

  11. To undertake porterage tasks as required, deliveries etc.

  12. To undertake handypersons duties as directed by management as outlined below:

· Painting – as required.

· First line maintenance of fixtures and fittings, examples: tightening screws on window hinges, maintenance on door handles, minor repairs as a temporary measure after break-ins, vandalism etc.

  1. To maintain appropriate records for QHSE logbooks.

  2. To assist and host where necessary, personnel visiting the site such as contractors.

  3. To comply with the requirements of Health and Safety, other relevant legislation and NMS policies.

  4. Carry out any other reasonable duties within the overall function of the job.

Attributes

· Knowledge of Grounds maintenance

· Time management skills, organisational skills and ability to prioritise.

· Ability to communicate to a diverse range of people verbally and in writing (Personable and approachable)

· Ability to work on own initiative.

· Ability to follow schedules and planned grounds maintenance tasks.

· Work as part of a team

· Flexible approach to work and flexible hours (seasonable)

· The candidate may be required to work in adverse weather conditions.

Required Skills

· Lantra or similar qualifications (or well experienced) in ride-on mowers, tractors, strimmer’s, hedge cutters, pedestrian mowers.

· Exceptions: experienced operators willing to sit training provided by CBRE.

· Valid UK driving licence.

Preferred Skills

· Forklift truck Licence (4 tonne or less)

· Chainsaw licence

· First Aid Training

· Licence for pesticide spraying, PA1, PA2, PA6

· Licenced for trailer towing.

Accountabilities

  1. The position is to cover the Broughton site and will report to the Head Grounds person.

  2. The post holder does not have any directly reporting staff.

3.This post carries no direct budgetary responsibility.
