Summary
The Workforce Health Medical Assistant is dedicated to promoting health and safety for all CRH as well as non-employees, such as students, residents, volunteers, and contractors. This is achieved by facilitating an Employee Health Program that focuses on disease detection, prevention, and treatment; following up on employee illnesses and injuries; conducting health screenings; ensuring compliance with annual medical surveillance; and promoting a safe work environment.
The Medical Assistant (MA) works under the direct supervision of a physician or Advanced Care Practitioner, with decision-making limited to established parameters regarding work expectations, quality standards, priorities, policies, and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
These duties and responsibilities described below represent the general tasks performed on a daily basis by Medical Assistance. Any other duties as needed to drive the vision to fulfill the mission and abide by the values of the organization.
Responsible for rooming patients and preparing them for examination
Takes patients vital signs which include blood pressure, height, weight and documents in EMR
Updates patient medical record including medications, allergies, past medical & surgical history
Preps procedure room for minor procedures and assist with those procedures as needed.
Prepares exam rooms for provider dependent on appointment type.
Cleans exam room and beds after each appointment and restocks medical supplies daily.
Assist physicians and Acute Care Providers with patient examinations.
Draw blood, perform EKG, SWAB test and any additional clinical test within the clinic.
Manages physician orders by submitting to appropriate departments, such as imagining, labs, scheduling surgeries, of referral to specialist. Confirm that all orders are completed, and that results have been returned.
Obtain Prior Authorizations as needed.
Able to check in patients, register patients, verify insurance, scan documents in patient charts, answer phones, return phone calls, and schedule appointments.
Presents strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
Provide Administrative support for the Workforce Health clinic, ie answering and directing phone calls, emails and faxes; scheduling and confirming appointments, greeting visitors, ascertaining purpose of visit and directing them accordingly
Maintains and enters patient data into files and automated databases to store and process employee and nonemployee data such as personal information, medical records and CRH orientation onboarding forms.
Provides new hire and annual mask fit testing and training for personal protective devices as required by licensing agencies.
Administer employee drug and alcohol testing in accordance with CRH drug free workplace program
Administration of COVID annual Influenza and COVID immunizations records and compliance for employee/non-employees. Ensure vaccine program compliance as directed by HFAP, OSHA, CDC and other regulatory agencies, to include Hepatitis B, Tetanus and MMR
Attend required hospital-wide orientations, meetings, and in-service
Exhibits a commitment to flexible work scheduling when necessary to ensure patient care
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
Education and Experience
Minimum Required Education: Certified Medical Assistant
Preferred Education: N/A
Experience: One year of Medical Training Preferred but not required
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Medical Assistant Certification. CPR/BLS certification upon hire or within 90 days of start in position.
