Pearson Quality Engineer in Chennai, India

About the Role

We are looking for a QE Engineer – API, UI Automation to develop and maintain robust automation frameworks for UI and API testing. In this role, you will work closely with development teams to enhance test coverage, improve efficiency, and ensure high-quality software releases. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automation solutions using Java, Selenium, Rest Assured, and other test frameworks. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain UI test automation using Java and Selenium.

  • Implement API test automation using Rest Assured, Java, and frameworks such as TestNG and Cucumber BDD.

  • Perform functional API testing using tools like Postman, SOAP UI, and Swagger UI.

  • Work with UI automation tools such as Playwright and UI Path for component testing.

  • Understand, configure, and enhance test automation frameworks independently.

  • Conduct end-to-end data validation testing across integrated systems, ensuring workflow accuracy.

  • Test applications on leading eCommerce platforms such as Shopify, Magento, and BigCommerce.

  • Validate critical eCommerce workflows including product browsing, shopping cart, checkout, order processing, and payment gateway integration.

  • Perform quality assurance testing on applications built on platforms such as AEM, Hybris, and BigCommerce.

  • Work in an Agile environment, actively participating in sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.

  • Utilize test/defect management tools such as ALM, JIRA, ADO, and Zephyr.

  • Implement CI/CD automation using GitLab, Maven, Jenkins, and SonarQube.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, reporting defects, tracking resolutions, and ensuring software quality.

  • Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation of test cases, automation scripts, and test results.

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, ensuring alignment between offshore and onshore teams.

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong expertise in Java, Python, or JavaScript for automation scripting.

  • Experience with ecommerce test automation strategies and domain-specific challenges.

  • Familiarity with cloud-based test execution platforms like Sauce Labs, BrowserStack, or Perfecto Mobile .

  • Knowledge of performance testing tools such as JMeter or LoadRunner is a plus.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in software test automation.

  • Strong experience in API and UI test automation tools and methodologies.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
