Job Description

Role Description/Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Engineer II, Field Service to join our team in Chennai. As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for handling X-ray fluorescence spectrometer (XRF) instruments, both WD and ED base. This role involves attending installation, maintenance, and break-down calls from our valued customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure customer satisfaction by ensuring the flawless performance of our instruments and ensuring that the intended application is productive for the customer.

  • Develop strong relationships with customers, projecting Thermo Fisher as a valued partner. Collaborate with customers and contribute to achieving the team's commercial goals.

  • Work closely with the Sales Team, Supply Chain, and Finance to ensure customer satisfaction and resolve any issues.

  • Participate in the implementation of process improvement initiatives related to customer-centric service operations.

  • Maintain and update all necessary records related to the customers for whom you are the primary engineer.

  • Guide customers in planning and maintaining optimum spare stock.

Minimum Educational Qualification:

  • Must have a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Electronics/Instrumentation with a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate.

  • Proven experience (4-5 years) in handling XRF instruments.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience Requirement:

Responsibility:

  • Deliver world-class experience to customers by providing proactive service support for our equipment and software.

  • Provide pre-installation, installation, and warranty services.

  • Meet or exceed the business commercial plan.

  • Embrace the Thermo Fisher culture and methodology to meet all service goals and objectives.

  • Collaborate closely with other functions like Sales, Supply Chain, Finance, etc. to ensure targeted organic growth for the business.

Skills:

  • Ability to plan and ensure on-time execution of PM, BD, and installations to meet customer requirements and business revenue targets.

  • Proficient in handling high-value sensitive electrical and electronic-based equipment.

  • Willingness to travel frequently, as the role demands extensive touring.

  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.

Knowledge:

  • In-depth knowledge of XRF is necessary to manage and grow the business.

  • Familiarity with XRF and sector-specific processes is a plus.

  • Ability to manage customer requirements and applications.

  • Knowledge and experience of component-level fault finding and repair will be beneficial.

  • Experience in handling Microsoft OS, both new and older versions.

Experience:

  • Experience working in the Metal & Cement Industries is required.

  • Process knowledge of metals like Steel, Copper, and Aluminum will be an added advantage.

  • Experience in planning and carrying out installation and commissioning of high-cost instruments.

  • Proficiency in the latest computer hardware and software is essential.
