Job Summary: The College of Professional Programs, Eastern Washington University, invites applications for a Director / Lecturer for the Interdisciplinary Studies Program. This position is to serve as a Lecturer with a combined administrative, teaching, and advising workload to perform duties as the Director of the Interdisciplinary Studies Program. This position will report to the Dean of Professional Programs. The Interdisciplinary Studies program serves students and programs across the University and supports the mission of the University Academic Affairs. The expected start date is September 16, 2023. This position has an expectation of availability for a separate 3-month summer appointment. The summer appointment is based on funding and needs of the university, college, and department. The Interdisciplinary Studies program provides opportunities for undergraduate students seeking degree programs that provide a broad background applicable to a variety of careers. Using existing course offerings at EWU, or proposing new ones, there is a focus on creating new professional and career development programs for those currently in the workforce; recognizing prior learning and work experience; crafting individualized tracks for new and existing students whose educational and career interests do not align with current EWU program offerings; and articulating customized pathways for students who meet, or have met, the University\'s graduation requirements. The Director of Interdisciplinary Studies provides academic oversight for the development, administration, and evaluation of all undergraduate interdisciplinary programming, including management of personnel and staff growth as appropriate. The director will balance administrative and programmatic responsibilities and will engage in collaboration with programs and faculty on pedagogy, instructional design, engaged learning, and new offerings. The Director will serve as the advisor for potential and declared ITSD students. The Director will also serve as a liaison with community partners to increase opportunities for applied learning and apprenticeship training as well as innovative curriculum. Programmatic responsibilities include student advising, implementing new programs, revising and reviewing current programs, establishing an evaluation policies and procedures, and conducting short- and long-range planning.
