Role Summary

We are actively recruiting for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Military Power Programs team in Cheltenham. As a function we support a swing shift operation, it may be requested that this role adopts these working hours.

This role would suit a conscientious driven engineer with a passion for process improvement & control. Working cross-functionally with engineering & operations, you will be responsible for introducing leading manufacturing technologies & design for manufacture principles. To be successful, you’ll ideally have an awareness of electrical & mechanical manufacturing processes.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Prepare documentation for new and existing manufacturing processes, e.g. Build manuals, control plans and PFMEA’s.

  • Implement technical engineering changes and assure product compliance by means of first article inspection to AS9102 requirements.

  • Establish process capabilities and monitor to ensure the manufacture of repeatable products.

  • Analyse processes and identify/report on activities that eliminate safety risks, improve quality metrics (e.g. defect reduction, yield improvement) and reduce waste (e.g. time and cost) using lean techniques.

  • Investigate quality issues and operational bottlenecks to root cause and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence and improve flow.

  • Compliance of processes to relevant company and industry policies and regulations.

  • Point of contact for area of manufacturing facility, working with Operational personnel to manage and implement improvements.

  • Review new product designs for manufacturability.

  • Review and update Engineering procedures and or Quality Standards following updates within the wider industry.

  • Work as part of wider Manufacturing Engineering team to evaluate and purchase capital equipment.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or equivalent work experience)

  • Proven experience in a Manufacturing Engineering role.

  • Process control documentation and procedures.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Desired Characteristics

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Knowledge of electrical & mechanical manufacturing processes.

  • Strong problem solving skills.

  • Knowledge of Aviation regulatory requirements.

  • Six Sigma Awareness and Lean Manufacturing Principals would be advantageous.
