Due to the sensitive nature of this role, you may be required to undergo DV (Developed Vetting) level Security Clearance (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/united-kingdom-security-vetting-clearance-levels/national-security-vetting-clearance-levels). An allowance of £5k per annum may be payable monthly while you hold this DV and continue to work in a role that requires that level of security clearance. The terms of this allowance will be made available if you are successful in being recruited into this role.

Why this job matters:

Be part of a small, specialised team undertaking a full range of engineering duties including request fulfilment, incident management and proactive maintenance providing great customer service. The services we provide have a direct impact on the BT customers and therefore the ability to respond to short timescales with sensitivity and discretion is essential.

What you’ll do:

  • Deliver and operate brilliant services for our special customers, working to contracted Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Service Level Targets (SLT’s)

  • Be part of an exceptionally motivated onsite BT Service Team

  • Responsible for Cabling Infrastructure Configuation updates and Firestopping records within a varied range of Microsoft Access databases.

  • Team Lead on Existing and New Firestopping installations.

  • Installation, termination, testing, fault rectification and patching of Copper and Fibre Infrastructure Cabling .

  • Installation and repair of AV equipment

  • Supporting the team assessing customer requirements, planning and installing solutions

  • Laying and connecting of underground cables

  • Proactive Maintenance on a varied number of services working alongside a our 3rd Party Suppliers

  • Raising, Monitoring and Closing of Service tickets as part of the service team Helpdesk duties.

Desired Experience:

  • GCSE Level (or equivalent)– including Maths & English.

  • City and Guilds Level 3 (or equivalent) in Structured (Data and Fibre) Infrastructure Cabling and Testing

  • Experience of the installation, termination and testing of Infrastrucure Cabling

  • IT Skills (Office 365) including Microsoft Access

Due to the sensitive nature of this role you will be required to undergo DV (Developed Vetting) level Security Clearance ( https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/united-kingdom-security-vetting-clearance-levels/national-security-vetting-clearance-levels ). The role is subject to you gaining and keeping the necessary level of security clearance needed to undertake your work. The result of the security clearance vetting is not subject to appeal. Failure to successfully achieve and maintain the necessary level of security clearance may see any offer of employment with BT cease or withdrawn or may cause a role change or possibly lead to termination of employment.
