Thermo Fisher Scientific Senior Manager, Product Management in Chelmsford, Massachusetts

How will you make an impact?

This is a Global Product Manager/Sr. Product Manager role that improves the value of the Water Analysis Instruments (WAI) product portfolio. This role will lead all aspects of the electrodes products spanning Academic, Biopharma and other industrial market segments. The Product Manager drives the product portfolio with the development and implementation of new products, branding and channel management of their specific product line.

What will you do?

Product Life Cycle Management

We, as product managers, develop the positioning strategy of all products and services considering price, volume, share and profitability. We strategically monitor and assess competition products and programs and implement proactive strategies to strengthen the product line. You will also evaluate assigned products for costs, margins, and obsolescence.

  • Lead cross-functional new product development teams focusing on pricing, market introduction, sales tools, and promotion plans.

  • Ensure products are responsive to market needs, drive continuous improvements, maintain and/or improve market penetration and share position.

  • Support training activities for the global market with product specific content/ knowledge, e.g. sales campaigns, webinars, conference presentations, etc.

Product Planning

  • Conduct market research and voice of customer (VOC) and validate data to drive decisions on development of product plans and identification of new opportunities.

  • Develop and implement long-range product strategies and guide fiscal planning for future positioning growth, and evolution.

Product Line Performance

  • Lead all product management related activities and champion cross-functional activities to improve overall revenue growth, margin improvement, cost reduction, quality, and delivery.

  • Establish product positioning recommendations and guidance in the development of strategic marketing plans and programs related to assigned products.

  • Conduct research and maintain relevant market data and competitive intelligence. Interpret product/market information via surveys, market/product analysis, focus groups and customer feedback.

  • Generate product analyses to identify differentiation and advise the development processes to aid in creating winning products.

  • Synthesize conclusions from such research to communicate key findings to other team members and drive action.

How will you get here?

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or equivalent required

  • MBA or other graduate degree preferred

  • STEM background preferred

Experience

  • 0-5 years’ work experience managing products/product lines required.

  • Product development and/or research experience utilizing stage-gate processes to manage technology and product development preferred.

  • Financial analysis skills, particularly the ability to identify key assumptions and build financial models for uncertain new business opportunities required.

  • Worked in global, highly matrixed, multicultural organization preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Proven track record of leading through influence, breaking down organizational boundaries, and working across a matrix organization

  • Ability to think critically to overcome potential business hurdles to complete tasks

  • Proactively cooperate cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, R&D, and others

  • Demonstrate strong Customer Experience focus

  • Ability to effectively present to all levels of an organization internally and externally

  • Self-starter and pro-active

  • Strong influence management skill

  • Detail and process oriented

  • Ability to Travel 30% required
