Events Manager - Fixed Term Contract

We are looking for a Events Manager to join our team on a fixed term contract, to cover maternity leave. In this role, you will have the flexibility to work from our London office and virtually at home.

What the day will look like

This is an exciting opportunity to work at Aon in a strong team of event professionals and within a wider Marketing and Communications function in the UK. Every day is different. You will be responsible for planning and executing some of our most prestigious external events, including conferences, exhibitions and hospitality, that build Aon’s reputation, drive engagement and create demand for our products and solutions.

You will be responsible for:

  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with venues and key external suppliers

  • Engaging with business leaders to understand their business goals and to align our events accordingly

  • Communicating with relevant stakeholders to keep them informed of the event progress, logistics and post-event follow-up

  • Ensuring brand standards are consistently applied across event assets

  • Managing budgets and the event compliance approval process

  • Measuring actionable management information and reporting to demonstrate the value of events to the business and use learning’s to refine and improve future events

  • Providing insight into the best and the most impactful formats based on broader industry knowledge, and effectively challenge the conventional thinking in producing an event

  • Understanding market context to inform the delivery of word class guest experience on time and on budget

  • Providing insight into how each event contributes to the overall customer journey plan, highlighting key challenges to ensure exceptional experiences are delivered

  • Deployment of consistent frameworks and toolkits to enable a more repeatable approach to events to ensure global consistency and best-in-class experiences

    Stakeholder management is a core skill as you will be working with colleagues within the business ensuring that proposed events are aligned to business priorities and providing regular updates. You will be responsible for providing regular progress updates and briefing Senior Leaderships on key events.

    Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • Proven events experience, preferably in a global professional services firm

  • Experience in structuring and managing virtual events, driving registration, earning and keeping attendee attention, and virtual event platforms i.e. ON24

  • Excellent organisational skills, results driven, strong attention to detail and can combine strategic thinking with effective execution

  • A standout colleague, with excellent written and communications skills with the ability to operate and liaise confidently with stakeholders internally and externally

  • Self-starter with demonstrated ability and willingness to roll up sleeves and execute to get the job done.

  • Understand the customer decision making processes for B2B sales cycles and all marketing touchpoints (PR, Media, Digital, Communications, Social, etc.)
