The Associate Internal Service Engineer, GPTS, Shared Services for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics is responsible for providing technical support to internal OpCo functions (engineers, technicians, and product support personnel). This support is provided through phone or email communication and involves diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and debugging complex electro/mechanical equipment, computer systems, complex software, or networked and/or wireless systems.In cases where first-line product support is unable to resolve issues with malfunctioning equipment or software, the Associate Internal Service Engineer steps in to address the problem. They may also perform repairs and updates on products at the office site, rather than in the field. Additionally, they report any design, reliability, or maintenance problems, as well as software bugs, to the respective design engineering or software engineering teams.

This position is part of the Chaska Diagnostics Global Product Technical Support Team / Internal Service Support and will be located in Chaska, Minnesota, and will be on-site. At Beckman Coulter, our vision is to relentlessly reimagine healthcare, one diagnosis at a time.

You will be a part of the Internal Service Group and report to the Internal Service Manager responsible for providing technical support to internal labs throughout our Chaska facilities. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Provide timely resolution to service calls by responding to and resolving issues for Hematology, Cytometry, and Particle Characterization Systems through physical repair, verbal instruction, collaborative troubleshooting, as well as installing new and replacement systems. Ensure optimal instrument performance by performing scheduled PM procedures, completing modification updates promptly, and maintaining a well-coordinated PM and MOD schedule through effective communication and coordination with department contacts.

  • Provide technical information and assistance to a variety of groups and individuals as appropriate and maintain good lines of communication with customers to foster cooperation and confidence in Instrument Support.

  • Maintain accuracy and traceable records to comply with GMP, ISO, FDA, and company policies. Document all instrument-related service activities in ServiceMax, while observing and documenting trends in system failures, including hardware, reagents, consumables, and environmental factors. Identify root causes of failures and present findings to the appropriate parties to improve product reliability.

  • Manage work schedule to ensure on-time completion of projects and work packages.

  • Manage the shared service parts inventory, including the return of defective parts and proper documentation of parts consumption. Implement measures to quarantine and contain non-conforming and defective materials.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Associates degree in biomedical, engineering, electronics, mechanical, chemistry, or medical technology

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Ability to identify and solve issues. Ability to learn and retain technical information. Ability to utilize system schematics and understand technical instructions.

  • Ability to participate successfully in a team environment.

  • Ability to work additional hours as needed including weekends and to travel as required (5 – 10%)

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Experience in the medical device industry is a plus.

  • Diagnostics and/or Life Science field service experience is considered an asset.

The salary range OR the hourly range for this role is 59,500.00 – 104,100.00. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
