Emerson Manufacturing Operator I in Charlottesville, Virginia

As a Manufacturing Operator I you will:

  • Perform product assembly and basic equipment operation

  • Assemble and test printed wiring assembly (PWA) boards

  • Complete subassemblies and final assembly

  • Apply appropriate labels

  • In Circuit Test (ICT)

  • Operate wave solder

  • Operate test (and other) equipment as assigned

  • Participate in and support process improvement projects and initiatives as required

  • Pre-forming of material as needed

  • Operate x-ray inspection equipment if applicable

  • Actively involved in continuous improvement events such as Kaizen

  • Position requires flexibility and may rotate responsibilities within position

  • Navigate PC/software as required for area assignment (Proficy, Aegis, SAP etc.)

  • Complete all assigned training and maintain any certifications as required including quality IPC Level 2C

Required education and experience

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Ability to understand verbal and written directions, bills of materials, assembly instructions, assembly drawings and associated written materials

Preferred education and experience

  • Previous experience in manufacturing environment

  • Experience using PC and Microsoft Outlook

Physical demands

  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs.

  • Must be able to distinguish colors

Work environment

  • Manufacturing environment

  • Take ownership of your area and follow established safe work practices

  • Report all hazards and incidents to your supervisor immediately and follow standard work procedures

  • Practice concepts of “I Own Safety”
