Job Description:

As a Product Counsel, you will play a critical role in assessing legal risk and providing practical guidance to stakeholders throughout the financial product development lifecycle. You will work closely with our Legal team and cross-functional teams across the organization to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.

Responsibilities:

• Act as the Legal representative to support our Product, Engineering, Copy, and Design teams in creating innovative and compelling personal finance tools.

• Assist the Business Development and Partnerships team with onboarding and managing business partners, their product offerings, and any integration or implementation needs.

• Lead cross-functional projects to manage existing risks and proactively identify and mitigate upcoming risks.

• Assess the business impact of new and evolving legal and regulatory requirements in the consumer financial products space.

• Educate partners about regulatory issues in a clear and understandable manner as they relate to a wide range of products and features.

• Provide meaningful, business-savvy guidance that creatively addresses legal and business issues.

• Make assertive decisions on when and how to take smart risks to achieve business goals.

  Requirements

Minimum Basic Requirements:

• JD from a top law school with excellent credentials.

• Member of the State Bar or in-house certified in NC.

• 5-7 years of experience, including in consumer finance and privacy laws, such as the TILA, FCRA, ECOA, and GLBA.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in fintech and consumer-facing platforms is highly desirable.

• Ability to lead projects involving cross-functional partners.

• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.

• Intellectual creativity and problem-solving skills with a willingness to take smart risks.
