Description

Fisher Associates is seeking a full-timePlannerto join our Planning Group. The planning team completes a wide range of projects including comprehensive plans, mobility studies, brownfield redevelopment, urban design, land use and zoning, entitlement, grant assistance, economic development, and public engagement. Under general supervision of a Project Manager, this position will assist with the day-to-day operations while maintaining a flexible schedule according to project workloads.

Salary Range:$52,000 - $72,800 annually

Actual compensation may vary based on relevant experience, qualifications/education, and other factors. The salary range is not necessarily reflective of the actual total compensation that may be earned nor promises any specific pay for any specific employee. Salary range excludes monetary value of benefits.

The primary function of this role is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Perform basic research, analytical, and statistical tasks.

  • Prepare maps and graphics.

  • Analyze and assess land use recommendations and community design.

  • Understand and present urban building and development concepts.

  • Assist in writing a variety of planning documents, publications, forms, reports, and grant applications.

  • Assist with State Environmental Quality reviews (SEQRA), preparation of Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) and related documentation, and National Environmental Policy Act reviews (NEPA).

  • Assist clients with municipal entitlement processes (site plan review, variances, planned unit developments, historic preservation approvals, etc.).

  • Attend, support, and take minutes for public, stakeholder, and advisory meetings.

  • Perform field visits, measurements, and assessments.

  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with clients, co-workers, and project teams.

  • Stay informed of new developments and techniques in planning and urbanism practice areas.

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Urban, Community or Regional Planning or a related field (including landscape architecture, transportation planning, architecture, etc.) from an accredited university; 1-2 semesters of demonstrated planning experience through major studio work and/or internship(s)

  • 0-5 years relevant experience

  • Proficiency with a variety of computer software including Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), ArcGIS, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Sketchup preferred.
