Your Impact at SAM

  • Responsibility includes operating a variety of surveying and photogrammetric instruments to support a our client in the inventory and classification of electrical equipment

  • Collecting pictures and filling up a report for measurements using high definition cameras and an equipment to measure distance for Transmission Lines or Substation sites accompanying our client’s linesman

  • Perform photogrammetric measurements based on field images, using photoshop or similar software

  • Create a daily field report and report to the office in daily basis

  • Responsible for the operation, checking and basic field adjustments of survey equipment. E.g. tripods, cameras, levels, total stations, data radios/modems, tablets and laptop

  • Utilize controllers and software to collect geospatial data and perform survey computations

  • Read and interpret various types of images and geodatabase information

  • Complete neat and orderly field notes for survey operations with supervision from Crew Chief

  • Keeps Crew Chief informed of problems and progress

  • Load and unload trucks with equipment and supplies

  • Clean and maintain survey equipment, tools and vehicle

  • Follow company safety procedures for survey operations

Project Specifics:

  • Work in the field, 10 hours a day, 4 days a week, at direction of our client

  • Location: Virginia, coastal North Carolina, Washington DC area or border of Virginia/West Virginia

  • Duration: 6 months to one year

  • Pays Per Diem

  • Possibility of permanent hiring, depending on performance

What You Bring to SAM

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • Possession of a valid, current driver’s license

  • Experience working in the field at electric substation sites or transmission lines ROW is preferable

  • Knowledgeable in the principles and performance of basic types of surveys, survey computations, field operations, and field safety procedures

  • Ability to work continually outside in all types of weather conditions and terrain

  • Ability to work out of town, in remote locations, for extended periods of time

  • Ability to represent SAM in a professional manner in front of the client
