Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible to the Director of Athletics for fiscal operations of the Department of Athletics, Student Activities Center ( SAC ) and Charlotte 49ers Athletic Foundation.
Prepare annual budgets by collaborating with department heads and coaches.
Monitor travel, purchasing, financial aid and any miscellaneous expenses.
Manage internal Athletic Department Business Office and provide administrative budget approval for internal budgets.
Provide regular budget reports to department heads and coaches.
Develop funding models for all major athletics facilities projects
Project and forecast revenue and expenditures on an ongoing basis to ensure positive year-end budget outcome
Act as Controller for the Department of Athletics while working with the University Controller’s Office to ensure compliance with University policies and procedures and GASB accounting standards.
Coordinate all financial audits, both external and internal, concerning the Department of Athletics. These include but are not limited to, the annual Department of Education Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act ( EADA ) Report, the annual NCAA Agreed Upon Procedures Report, and an annual internal Department of Athletics report.
Oversee insurance program for student-athletes, vehicles and travel.
Manage agreements with travel agency and other services.
Coordinate student-athlete scholarship fulfillment, refunds, etc.
Work with overall departmental strategic planning and conference positioning.
Work with the American Athletic Conference office on various items.
Assist the Director of Athletics in other capacities as necessary and as assigned.
Abide by all written policies, procedures and guidelines of University of North Carolina Charlotte, the Department of Athletics, the National Collegiate Athletic Association ( NCAA ), and all applicable conferences or associations.
Minimum Experience / Education:
Undergraduate degree in related field (Administration, business or accounting) and previous experience in managing a business operation.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
Masters degree in related field; experience working in college athletics or in higher education.
